Played Evans Prairie today; saw the smoke; winds shifted and there was a heavy smell of a petroleum based fire.

I was at the Hilltop Pool about 1pm and didn't see, smell or hear anything thankfully.

Hard on their neighbors. The garage needed to be aired out.

They LOVE to burn in Florida. No respect for their neighbors. Talk about pollution....

Who are "they"?

I truly don't understand why people who hate everything about Florida live here. Same about The Villages. Why not live where you find love and peace and leave Florida? Buh bye.

Lobster penalty AGAIN for cross threading. I've lost count of the lobsters you own me.

Back to the fire. Fireboy thought it wasn't a house fire by the color of the smoke.

My lunch companions thought there was a fire at Panera's in Sumter Landing last night. Any truth to this? I can't find any mention anywhere.

I think your lunch companions meant Spanish Springs. There was all kinds of fire equipment down by Panera's last night. Main Street was closed at Paige Blvd. i "heard" on the square that there was no fire, but the fire dept was checking very carefully to make sure. I was surprised there was nothing in the DS. Maybe tomorrow.

Sorry about venting. I used the screen door in the garage and the smoke was terrible inside when I got home.

but we still have not discussed what the smoke was ?? I saw the smoke
and it was massive amount... I was afraid it was a house or business - it looked like a structure fire since there was so much smoke.

There are contractors and heavy equipment on the "Family's property" north of the polo fields. They have been doing extensive clearing and burning for the last 2 weeks in the area near the Village of Santiago. They have been working 7 days a week from sun up to sun down. No idea of what they are doing back there. If anybody knows, please post.

We saw the heavy smoke from 441 while we we up near Sears. It didn't appear to be in TV as it appeared well north say out toward route 25. Hubby said it looked to be smoke from burning rubber or an industrial type fire.

Depending on the wind, it gets pretty nasty with the smell of the fires. I could see the smoke from Oxford Oaks. Rumor had it they were putting in a paddock of some sort - but again that is just rumor. I just feel bad for anyone with any lung issues - got to keep the windows closed.

I wish I knew what was going on. I live in this area and when the wind is from the s/w it blows to our house. Have to close the house up. You can see the burn pile at the end of Iberia Ct but cannot tell what they are doing. There are several trees with orange tape around them. Let's hope this does not mean they are coming down.
