I know it's a directional antenna of some sort..... they are all over The Villages.....

Question is, does anyone know what they are used for ?? I was thinking that they are used to control the irrigation system on golf courses but I'm pretty sure I've seen them away from golf courses as well.....

Anyone know ?? Just curious......

Depending on where these are located, they can be for any number of uses:
Traffic information
Well (or water level) status
Irrigation, as you mentioned
Other infrastructure needs.
I worked for a utility for over 40 years, and when we started to modernize parts of the system, these types of radios and antennas were used for remote control and data gathering to remote locations on our system.
I am sure there are lots of other possibilities.

I've noticed them also and my first thought was it's the Infinity wi-fi that shows up in my network list. But that is just a guess.

These are electrochemical sensors tuned to resonate with the chemical trails you see in the background.

They are directional antennas used to transmit data to a central point. Mostly used to keep track of devices like cable systems, or water systems. It saves from someone having to go to the site and take a reading from a meter.

Can be two way. Just like any other antenna except that it is a focused, narrow pattern.
