3-year old block & stucco IVY. I'm seeing hairline stress cracks in the stucco exterior beneath most windows. Some cracks, while hairline width, run 3 feet or more. Have been filling in the cracks with touch-up paint.
1. Is filling in with paint the right thing to do (vs caulk and paint)?
2. Is this a precursor to a larger problem?

I don't know the right answer. I know our problem was solved with sealer recommendation from Ace. Then new paint. I suppose any crack could mean trouble and would have a professional look at this

The very nice dewilson gave me some advice last summer on filling in cracks we have in our stucco. I haven't done this yet as the weather cooled off and the cracks disappeared. So I am lazy and put it off till next summer, when I will take his advice at the earliest possible return of the cracks. Here is his advice. Thank you again, dewilson.
"Rust-Oleum
LeakSeal
Flexible Rubber Coating
Black or clear.........I did clear.
It does say "Paintable Finish" on it.
Hate to say it..........but when it's hot, the cracks are larger and the rubber gets down into it better. I've gone out in the morning, looking for a crack I saw and was going to seal it and I couldn't find it.
Clean the area. Again, a light spray did it for me. I practiced on a newspaper just to see how much and how fast it came out."

Paint will not seal a crack in any surface. I've used caulk then painted. Do a google search,

Me again.....................went out today and looked at the cracks I did three years ago. Can't find the cracks. Not sure if this is proper/recommended per the pro's, but seems to have worked for me.
Good Luck.
