Any suggestions for my 90 year old Mother, for participating in club type activities? Thank you in advance.

At that age, she might like playing cards. At most rec centers they have various types of card games. Go to the nearest rec center and ask, or check the Thursday edition of the Sun for the Recreation News insert or pick one up at your nearest regional rec center, such as Colony Cottage, Seabreeze, Lake Miona or Eisenhower.

what's her hometown state? she could join the club for that. they usually meet monthly and most have a pot luck and entertainment. it's a nice evening out that usually ends early. something else my friend did in her neighborhood because some women were widowed recently, is she started a club for them to get together and have dinners, play games, etc. I play games with the single women on my street once a week and it's a great way to keep in touch and help each other as needed, plus we can walk to each other's houses. does she read? there's a mystery book club, true crime book club, etc. hard to know what to suggest without knowing her activity level. she'd be welcome at the deep water aerobics class at noon on Tues, thurs, sat. at Laurel Manor...most equipment is provided and it's good for core and balance.

Villages07 post made me think of this, go to this website and you'll find over 250 club links down the leftside plus many other handy links.

Is she visiting or residing in The Villages?

Just look in the Thursday club guide in the Daily Sun.

Bunco, mah jong, pokeno, or various card games are always available at rec centers.

There is a club here in The Villages called "Four Score and More". It is sponsored by the Baby Boomers club. They have a monthly luncheon catered by La Hacienda and it is held at the Savannah Center. I don't remember the date, but watch the Recreation Guide in Thursday's paper or call the Savannah Center. I think she will find it nice and they always have entertainment and celebrate birthdays.

does she want to be in a club?

Just what I was thinking. Maybe she wants to go by herself to the squares and dance. Or play golf or tool around in a golf cart. There are lots of ninety year olds doing just that. I got beat (again) by the 93 year old in our golf group.

Ninety is the new 70 around here. Get where I'm going?
