The first thing a communist or dictatorial government does is to silence the press. You can see it in the trump rantings, no freedom of the press, no freedom. trump and putin, two peas in a pod.

Dear Guest:

Please explain in what shape, form, manner this President has silenced the press ( news media)?

What percentage of the American population do you believe find the press (news media) to be honest, competent, fair and balanced?

Would you suggest that the press ( news media) has a right to silence a president?

Would you suggest that a president, or anyone for that matter does not have the right to equal opportunity to present their side of a story?

Do you support Facebook's and Twitter's practice of intentionally burying conservative speak and promoting only progressives responses?

Do you believe the press (news media) has been espousing ethical journalism and living up to their responsibility of being America's watchdog?

Do you suppose it might be un-American and lean toward communistic dictatorship to have the press (news media) create fake news, deceive, ignore truths, spin in favor of those with whom ideology they share?

If this is what you mean by your original post, then I opine that you are either uninformed, under-informed, suffering from confirmation bias or you despise the present Administration so much that you would accept a dishonorable, dishonest and biased press ( news media). And that is as un-American as it can get.

As for silencing the free American press, as much as Trump and his minions would like to, he hasn't and he never will. A government without a free press turns into fascism very quickly. Presidents don't have to like it. They just have to tell the truth, and give us answers. No one cares if Trump's feelings get hurt, do we?

ThAT IS EASY.

He has a small following, albeit, very vocal and will believe whatever he says.

He knows that....he is good at this stuff. SO.....he will demean anyone who criticizes or in anyway, opposes him. He refers to them with language that is vile. That, to his followers is all they need....the red meat, if you will, to disbelieve good hard working honorable members of the press and latch onto the ALT RIGHT web sites like Bannons Brietbar and others.

i suggest and VERY VERY VERY STRONGLY that our media not only has the right but the RESPONSIBIITY TO check what our leaders say of any party. This is not a kingdom where what the kings says is final.

i think the press has gone overboard to be fair to this man. Other than the other day when someone finally corrected him, they do not practice in your face journalism. T

They have been respectful to a man who is lying and they know it.

I WILL ASK (I DELETED THE WORD DEMAND) THAT YOU SHOW A TIME THAT THE MEDIA EVER EVER EVER MADE UP A STORY. The fact you do not like the news does not equate to the dangerous and serious charges you make. This does not include honest mistakes followed by apology, something you will NEVER see from our President....has not the inclination nor the class

You are right, Presidents do have to tell the truth and give us answers. That is exactly the beef President Trump has with the press/media. THEY DO NOT TELL THE TRUTH. If and when they do see the light, he will lay off of them. Until that time, he will continue to berate them, and will continue to take to Twitter bypassing them in order to tell people the truth.

You, like Trump simply make accusations with zero credibility.

Telling the truth is not defined as saying things you like.

News is not opinions, as he thinks.

So give an example or hold your accusations. He has never been able to give one example. He calls it fake news if it is an opinion he does not like.

Why do you think he loves Fox ? Are you really so under informed to believe Fox is the single only credible source of information in the world ?

He pretty much ignores NEWS and simply wants all OPINION pieces to love him.

You want an example:

Chris Matthews's famous interview with then candidate Trump about abortion. I saw the entire thing, not the truncated version.

Chris Mattews: If abortion were to be made illegal again, should the woman be punished?

Trump: (After a short pause) Uh, yes. Yes, she should face some kind of punishment. BUT, it is not illegal now, so that is not even an issue.

Chris Matthews: She SHOULD be punished?

Trump: Yes

The version plastered all over TV was:

Chris Matthews: If abortion were to be made illegal again, should the woman be punished?

Trump: Yes (the rest was truncated)

Chris Matthews: She SHOULD be punished?

Trump: Yes

Hardy truthful, is it?

I know of no doctor who will walk up to a pregnant woman and tell her he is going to do an abortion on her. She must REQUEST one. Trump was right. IF it becomes illegal, then she is just as guilty as the doctor who performs it because she will break the law by seeking it. Lawbreakers should get punishment. (In case you missed it, the keyword is IF.)

Sorry...not evading..one of my very bad habits is I do not evade or avoid, but this is a poor example of a NEWS LIE.

Trump makes up what he says are facts. Did whomever you got your transcript from sort of twist it to make headlines,....yep.

Problem is this for me..,that producer or whom ever is NOT..NOT President of the United States.

This entire war by Trump is a complete sham to convince you that all these bad things about me are lies. I assure you as someone who followed this man for years...he IS a liar.

He may not lie in his personal life..of course he has..we know that, but he lies for a purpose.

I, personally want to trust my President.

I have no idea whether you have a case ir not and frankly do not care. I watched that interview live and though Trump just tripped up his tongue and mixed words.

You said you watched the entire interview? OK. He was also very new to the game at that time and had no idea of the vitriol of the very biased liberal press. Some things really are learned by experience. It didn't take him long to figure out that twisting and trying to trip him up in order to promote the other side was their agenda. Maybe he was just too trusting. Me thinks so.

I do trust President Trump. He is only asking that the media not twist what he says. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Does he screw up and get some stuff wrong? Sure he does. He was not elected for his oratory skills. We had 8 long years of that, remember? Whenever his teleprompter was taken away, President Obama was sadly lacking in his responses, if he even bothered to attempt one. Then they were just uh's and unconnected ramblings. I would think that President Trump could read just as well. He just prefers to talk to the people. I do agree that he could be more like the Donald Trump others deal with in private. Maybe that would help to change the perception.

You make Trump sound like some kind of poor newbie.

Trust me, he knows what he is doing and always has. He is playing the card about..poor me.

Sorry for being quick in my response....just checking my iPad while doing something else, but want to make something clear....

"Screwing up and getting things wrong" I can accept.

He is, and has been his entire life a pathological liar. That's factual.

This is opinion...this is a game, which will nod up benifittingnhe and his family. He is playing well. But there is a difference between making a mistake and LYING with purpose.

Obama did not like FOX and said so. Trump does not like CNN and many of the other libtard news networks and says so. Big deal. Trump said he did not care if they print negative stuff about him as long as it is true. That's not trying to shut up the press, it's demanding that they be honest. You libtards really need to find something substantial to disparage Trump with. This baby crying, petulant fits of anger and weeping is going to destroy your Socialist Democrat party.

All you need to know about Trump (and that he's being manipulated by Bannon/et. al.), is what he said when he was told that he was wrong...when he bragged about having the biggest electoral win since Reagan.

His response?

Cracks ?..

"Fox News anchor Chris Wallace cautioned his colleagues and the network's viewers Sunday that President Trump's latest attack on the media had gone too far.

“Look, we're big boys. We criticize presidents. They want to criticize us back, that's fine,” Wallace said Sunday morning on “Fox & Friends.” “But when he said that the fake news media is not my enemy, it's the enemy of the American people, I believe that crosses an important line.”

The “Fox & Friends” anchors had shown a clip of Trump recounting that past presidents, including Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, had fought with the press. They then asked Wallace whether Trump's fraught relationship with the media was a big deal.

In response, Wallace told his colleagues that Jefferson had also once written the following: “And were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”

Context was important, Wallace said. All presidents fight with the media, but Trump had taken it a step further in making them out to be “the enemy,” he added.

“Yes, presidents have always had — and politicians have always had — problems with the press. They want good press. The press doesn't always give it to them,” Wallace said. “But what Jefferson [was saying] is, despite all of our disputes, that to the functioning of a free and fair democracy, you must have an independent press.”
