We will be closing on a house next week and only staying a few days after closing. What are the arrangements we need to make to see that the house is maintained untill we return in late October? Does anyone have recommendations for
reputable companies who provide such services?

Since I am still working, I am not able to use my villa in TV as often as I like. When I am not there, I use Redwitch to keep an eye on my home. She does a fantastic job and is also a member of this board. Just send her a private email and I'm sure she would be happy to help you out!

I'll second kfierle's post above. Redwitch does a fantastic job.
Can u enlighten us as to what these house watchers do and is it done on some sort of schedule?

I use Redwitch as well and support the recommendation. She visits the home weekly, checks doors, windows, flushes toilets, turns water on so traps are filled, checks to make sure lawns ar mowed, sprinklers are working, AC is set correctly, etc. etc. And when your headed down she will turn up water heater, lower AC or raise heat as required, and turn on outside lights if your arriving late. She will also put out trash after you go and do any other minor requests you might have. For extra $$ she will meet delivery folks, weed, and other light work.

I think Handieman (who is a TOTV Member) also does "house watch" ... not sure. I think he may have an ad on this site?
I also recommend Red Witch..........

Well, another vote for Redwitch. She has been a real problem solver for us as we seem to have this issue with lightening. Last year it was a strike that burned some landscaping, melted part of the irrigation system, and knocked out the internet. Red talked to the fire marshalls, arranged for the fixes, etc. This year the lightening set off the sprinklers so she took care of that (but OMG the water bill before we discovered it!). We refer to Red as our chief-make-it-happen person.

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with Redwitch? Either email or phone if she doesn't mind giving out that info. I am coming down in September to buy but will not be moving until November so I would like someone to keep an eye on the house for me. Thanks.

I got a PM from redwitch but I couldn't open it. Something about a " pop up blocker". Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks.

I just opened my email account and realized the private message was sent there. Being new at this I didn't realize that is how it works. So I am all set. Thank you everyone for the help through TOTV. This is a great site.

While the original request appears to have been satisfied, I would also like to put a good word in for redwitch. Besides all the normal stuff, she goes the extra mile. For example, when we were coming down for the first time after having closed by mail, she put rolls of toilet paper in the house for us, knowing that we were coming into a bare house to "camp out" for awhile. She also brought lamps and folding chairs for us to use until we got our own. She also acted as our eyes for the intial walkthrough before closing.

I suggest that you send her a PM with your questions. She is very reliable. Her User ID on TOTV is Redwitch.

I use charelene from the Village sitter. I couldn't ask for better service. She sends a monthly report telling when she visited and what was done. She also sends pics of anytHing questionable and has been very professional. She is insured and bonded which was important to me also.

We are part timers in TV for a year now. We also use Charlene from The Village Sitter. She and her husband Steve are great. He is also on the TV security so it makes us feel safe. They go above and beyond. She even comes to our house on different times to meet workers we hire and keep an eye on them. Charlene texts us pictures of things she finds while there, like weeds and ants so we can call the people we need to take care of the problems. We consider them our friends not just someone who we trust our new home to. She also pet sits which is a nice plus.
Charlene is a member of TOTV and goes by the name of Phanatic Luvr. I recommend you speak with her.

"At your Service" is who I use, they are insured and bonded. They also reside in the Villages. Call one of the owners, Coty, 352-633-3953.
They have been doing a wonderful job with my home and several of our friends.

I used Ed and Mary Edwards of Safe Home Watch. they live in The Villages of Hadley, near Morse Nd 466A. They did a great job watching my home and monitoring for problems until I moved here permanently. Their website is: SAFE HOME WATCH SERVICE - Home (http://www.safehomewatch.weebly.com)
I'll give you their cell too, if you want to PM me.

This is the website for the village sitter: The Village Sitter - Welcome (http://thevillagesitter.weebly.com/)
Curious just what do these people charge...just an idea would be good. I am sure everyone is different.

I looked at the site and missed the section on prices. They need to change the color at the top so it is more visible.
Thanks!

most homewatch charges are in the same ball park...however we have used two different services and when we hired Charlene and Steve from the village sitter...its like having your family watching your home..its the first time we have come down and could walk into our home and just relax everything is perfect
