My wife and I found ourselves Up The Creek last night. We decided we wouldn't need a paddle. Both the food and service were very good. We did notice that the place was kind of empty though, too bad.

Up The Creek has been sold and will become Cody's Steak House sometime late September, early October. We talked to the guy who is involved in opening the place.

Boo Hoo! I hope they keep the outside seating - I did like the food at Up The Creek and am not such a big steak fan, although most steak houses have fish as well.

If it's true I hope it's a quality steakhouse

Nothing better than aged beefsteak cooked "Pittsburgh"

Making me hungry thinking about it

Looks like a Texas Roadhouse-type operation. Check out their website at www.codysoriginal roadhouse.com. Numerous Florida locations including Ocala. Daily 2-4-1 happy hour from 3:30 - 7:00.

Would suspect the location should blow RJ Gators out of the water.

now I could go for that. The RoadHouse is a great place. Never knew the name was Cody's.. That would be a great trade off..

Oh Darn, there goes my favourite fish restaurant. I loved to take visitors to Up The Creek and sit on the patio overlooking Lake Sumter.

I hope they keep the 80+ greeter on .. he is great.

I guess the competition from Red Lobster and Bonefish might have been a factor.

Don't know what constitutes "official". See The Villages Gourmet Club website (http://thevillagesgourmetclub.home.comcast.net/page1.html). They had this on their site recently. Don't think they are in the business of spreading false rumors.

Not surprising that Up The Creek lost their paddle!

Had dinner tonight at UTC. I asked the server if there was any truth in the rumor. She confirmed that it will become Cody's as the current owner of UTC has merged some of his holdings with Cody's. She states that the servers were told that they would not be laid off but would be employed by Cody's after the conversion.

Ate there last night and our waiter also confirmed the change to Cody's, although he did not know exactly when it would happen.

We have been to Cody's in Ocala several times and the food has been very good, however the service was less to be desired.

Bruster's is great ice cream but they have a bad location for us. We just don't get out that way that often. If they inside seating it would be much better, even if it rains or is cold out we could still go. If they were in the squares they would be really busy....

We have a Texas Roadhouse in our town. When it opened, about five years ago, it was the first one in Calif but now I see they have opened three others in Norcal. Never forget, the first time we ate there our waiter's name was Spartacus!

Love the peanuts!

Texas RoadHouse is a good place. I just hope Cody's keeps a clean place. The one in Ocala was less than clean last time there.
