Illegal aliens cost America billions of bucks every year. I would rather put that money into securing our borders than on people that cr@p on our laws. Way too simplistic an idea for Donald Trump with respect to this wall. For one thing, how do you put a wall up at the Rio Grande? Then there is the problem of so much of the property along the border is owned by private people. These cases could be in court long after Trump has come and gone as President of the United States.

A wall might stop small group and individuals from getting across. But if you have a cartel or some terrorist group trying to get through human intelligence in the form of informants is far more useful than an alienated group of border dwellers who probably have little reason to help us. Cartels and terrorists often have money to corrupt border security agents and the like.
