As a full time Frog the courses in The Villages are fantastic. I have lived here full time for 3 years and owned for 5 years. For the first 2 years as a Frog I never played outside of The Villages because our courses are so great here why would you want to go elsewhere? However there are some great bargins on world class courses within an hour drive of us and the Summer is the best time to take advantage of them. Many of these are rated as the top courses in Florida.

Check out the Summer rates on Orange County National Golf Course one of the top courses in the country. This Course is 45 minutes from The Villages. Play the video lower right of site.

I just called Orange County National and the Summer rates for Mon-Thurs before 11:00 AM are $49.00 after 11:00 AM $39.00

Below are links to some courses that I have played and think are worth the drive when the rates are cheap as they are now.

Perhaps you know of some other courses that are a great deal and worth the drive. If you have played these or other courses let us know which ones you think are great.

Here is one I really like. Near Mt Dora, reasonable, and a beautiful and challenging course.

Couldn't seem to find fees at Deer Island with the link mentioned. Last time I played several months ago it was $50.00. Is it still the same?

I think I payed $35 but that may have been an after 11:00 rate as we teed off around noon. I called the club and made the time. I just checked through golflink.com and it is $35 anytime this time of year. Another one I like is Sanctuary Ridge. Another great value at about $35.

Deer Island is a great place to play golf, then go to Mt Dora for lunch or dinner.
