I bought some socks today at Bealls for $17 with 30 percent off. The cash register showed $12.63 before taxes. I questioned the price, and the cashier showed me the computer screen and said it was 30 percent off. When I told her that 30 percent off of $17 is $11.90, she adjusted the price, but acted like I was the problem. The same thing happened to me the last time I shopped there.

The clerk can't help it----talk to a manager.

I didn't need to. She adjusted the price. Am I being too skeptical to think that this was not an honest mistake by the store? How did the cashier know that the item was supposed to be 30 percent off?

Glad you caught the mistake. I wouldn't really care what the clerk said or acted like because I would have asked for the manager.

Probably because their ad says 30% off of socks. :$:

For less than a dollar............I'm out the door and enjoying the weather.

The people in line had to enjoy the recalculation.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.

I'm with the op...very important matter of principle here. I'll enjoy the weather just a few minutes later. :)

if the item was $17.00 you would be correct. if it was $17.99 Bealls would be correct.

I'm sure I was in that line. I would have given the op the dollar myself. Merry Christmas.

Curious what type/brand of sock purchased. Beall's website does not list any men's socks with a price of $17.00.

No, that would work out to $12.59 not $12.63. There is something else going on.

if the item was $17.00 you would be correct. if it was $17.99 Bealls would be correct.

Perhaps the manager should have been summoned for a number of reasons. The computer system input was faulty, the store employee needed training or discipline, or perhaps just to let the store know that customers are no easy prey.

I salute the OP.

Do they charge full price, add the tax & then take off the 30% of the products price? Which means your paying tax on the full price not the sale price. Some states require that but most states don't allow it.
