Just saw Jay and The Americans last week in St. Germain, WI. What a great group from the 60's - Cara Mia, This Magic Moment, Let It Be Me. Would love to see them perform at The Savannah Center.

Would be great but they are performing without Jay Black (actually he was the 2nd Jay) who was the lead for most of their hits. The new Jay is from Chicago.

Not sure of this, but I seem to remember Jay & the Americans being at the Savannah a few years ago. It may well have been one of the fund raisers that Rocky's put on -- hurricane, tornado, plague of locusts, whatever.

But, I could be wrong.

Yes, his name is Jay Reincke from Chicago. There's a clip on You Tube about the group finding Jay Reincke. Jay Black lost the rights to the name after bankruptcy (due to gambling and the bankruptcy Judge told him he could pay off his debt by selling the rights to the name) and one of the group members, Sandy, brought the name.

Right. Without Jay Black (who lost the name in bankruptcy proceedings) it is just a tribute band. Not that there is anything wrong with tribute bands.

I used to see Jay Black ( the voice) often perform on Long Island where he lives. His show was Great but he couldn't talk without cursing. I would enjoy hearing him sing. Hewas satill remarkable at holding that note on Cara Mia and enjoyed the horns in his band.
