If TV does not own the land, why are there three or four wagons on the way to Fenny? Anyone know the details?

These wagons look like what the pioneers used to cross the nation. I guess they are telling us that this is Villages property to be built in the near future.

Was Ward Bond at the front yelling "Wagons, ho." (Surely some of us can remember that show -- sorry, didn't mean to call you Shirley.)

The tour guide on the trolley ride to Fenny said, covered wagons were placed on property belonging to The Villages. Fenny is considered the southern most village with additional building coming north.

So.....there you go, it is Villages property and a link from Fenny to civilization..

That is correct, the wagons are on Villages owned property and you can expect to see more as they purchase more property going North from Fenney.

OK. Good info. So, why must we rely on social networking for explanations? Is the developer mute?

Wagons ho! Picture taken today from the Cub looking North towards Rohan Rec Center. See the two wagons in the picture.

The wagons are there because The Villages has also bought the land the wagons are on and plan to expand there as well. This was what the man who worked for the villages said while we were on the trolley. He was our "guide" for the ride to Fenny, giving us facts about the land and Fenny itself along the way.

Don't think the developer is mute...the shuttle guide made it pretty clear that TV owns the property where the wagons are located. It's also been in the paper. Maybe you missed it.

It was explained on our trolley ride too and the Developer organized the tour

Yup...covered wagons that say "The Villages" on them.

Perhaps the Conestoga wagons signify the outward expansion of the Villages, new pioneers? So, who is willing to become a new pioneer.

A red wagon for each 10,000 future homes.

Who really cares. The Developer is not obligated to tell us anything. It was mentioned on here many times that you don't show your hand to early. I'm sure there is other land that they own that we don't know about perhaps not even in their name. Relax sit back and enjoy what we already have.

Your post is " Common Sense "...would be nice if there were more like yours. A lot of post on this subject what seems like finger nail biting or worry ....oh no what next....hand wringing, sweat pouring down the forehead....
Kick Back..toss a Hamburger, Hot Dog or better still a Steak on the grill, pop open a cool lager.....and Chill............................ Everything is under control. :plane:

I have no doubt that The Villages intends to expand from Fenny northward until it joins Brownwood.
In fact I heard that there is an old cattle trail that runs under Route 44 that will eventually be a golf cart tunnel.

WHAT IS WITH THE WAGONS ON THE WAY TO FENNEY??
This is much like other questions I have read on here, asking about the sayings on the buildings in the town squares and the "fake" uses for store fronts and the bathrooms in Lake Sumter County that look like Cabana's.
I have a sister-in-law who is so literal that this would escape her too. How do you explain "whimsy" to a non whimsical person??????
A huge challenge for anyone in advertising, I would guess. Some people are just born very literal.
I love all this foolishness. I think it is clever and ....well brilliant.

Covered wagons such as the one in Spanish Springs in front of 2-Jays and Amerikanos without horses attached.

They start at the sandalwood condos and continue south and west to fenney. When is Morse giving his sermon on the mount at the sharon this year?

I believe that this is the land that they purchased for $25,000,000. Asking price was $35,000,000 then $30,000,000.

Had to be a way to move cattle across the road, why not. In other states there are tunnels under roads for animals and farm equipment that you would not know existed. Could be a tunnel. But as usual will have to wait to see

While at the pool today, a lady told me that her hairdresser's aunt told her that The Villages was going to build a bridge over Rt 44 after they purchase Continental Country Club.

An angel appeared to my hairdresser and told him that all this new development would be fine.
The Morses aren't our mother. They don't have to tell us anything and it would be bad business to disclose that you would like to purchase most of the Western Hemisphere. Than the people who own the property will jack up prices and this will increase the cost of the whole project. I love Capitalism, all the sneakiness and the intrigue and the discussions in smoke filled rooms and the payoffs and the conspiracies.
Oh no, I am confused, that is how politics and the government work.:a20:

Just came back from our self guided tour of Fenny. Driving through the main gate I was very impressed with the woodsy national park type landscape reminiscent of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. I give it 5 stars ! The walking trails meandering about suggest a peaceful natural and healthy way for recreation or reflection.
Driving past this peaceful serenity I was reminded once again that we are in sprawl Florida, the glorious live oaks giving away to nursery grown palm trees and the trac housing we lovingly have embraced as our village neighborhoods. Looking across the broad expanse of empty lots to the southern tree line I'm also reminded of the federal prison just beyond said line. My thoughts of paradise etched in my mind were offended by that thought and soon rebounded to why we were there. Curiosity, as to how our newest southern neighbors will lifestyle as we have on the mothership. Will these newest Villagers experience life much the same way as our future space explorers will on the red planet ? Will these new pioneers consider themselves earthlings or martians ? Time will tell as slowly as the sold markings appear on all those empty front windows.

RickeyD, that is one snazzy little piece of writing.
When I started reading your post, I thought......who are you and what have you done with RickeyD? Then came the nuance and the juxtaposition, each perfectly balanced. And I noticed I was smiling.......while you, sir, were grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
I hope your old English teacher got to see some of that wit in your writing assignments.

As one passes all the wagons on the way to Fenny a perspective is gained as to just how much more building there is to come.
To date TV has been expanding southward all the while mostly contiguous to all previous villages.
They are currently building at an extreme southern location (and then expand northward?).
PS .......an alternate route to get to Fenny is to go south on 301. Continue past the entrance to the turnpike to where CR468 makes a left turn. Fenny is on the right.
From our house, for example it is 3 miles shorter this way.

The property Fenney is being built on had already had all the environmental studies, permits etc done because another developer was going to develop it. That fell apart when the economy downturn happened. But because all the groundwork had been already done, The Villages started there so they could keep their employees (designers etc) intact. t will all fill in between 44 and Fenney over the next several years

Interesting to note that when the trolleys were hauling visitors, the route taken would avoid roads outside TV with the exception of 468. No doubt to give the impression that Fenny isn't that far removed.

It's a continuation of the Brownwood cowtown theme! The area has a history of cattle farms.

To make it realistic. Fenny is so far away from civilization and so undeveloped that if the wind blows slightly the whole village appears to be in the middle of a huge dust storm. Kind of reminiscent of early settlers travelling across the desert in their covered wagons.

Also very reminiscent of the new areas as they developed elsewhere in TV......like when there were no homes south of 466....no Arnold Palmer....no Sumter Square.....just walls, empty lots, some construction and lotsa lotsa dirt and dust storminess.
I know because we were among the first to build in there.
This too will pass!
