There's always room for a second opinion, Keedy. But it's important for all of us to understand what the opinion is and where it came from.

The second opinion you linked was published by the conservative think tank, The Hoover Institution. Hoover states that their mission is to study domestic political policy, not necessarily healthcare. Their second opinion is a selective listing of statements, all of which are true and accurate I'm sure. The statements indicate that in some ways the American healthcare system is better than others. But it is far from a broad-based study of worldwide health.

Broader studies done by worldwide medical or health organizations, arrive at decidedly different conclusions regarding the quality of the U.S. healthcare compared to other countries.

In another thread on this forum I quoted some statistics published by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends. It was the recent WHO study that showed the distinct weaknesses in U.S. healthcare compared to the rest of the developed countries in the world.

If participants on this forum are to really understand statements and links provided by other members, they need to know how much reliance they can place on the information when forming an opinion on the subject being discussed.

We need opinions from everywhere, I agree. There is just something about the United Nations that makes my skin crawl. I care to read information from organizations that will benefit me, from the United States of America. I am not part of that group that wants a one world government.
That reminds me of the member of our present Supreme Court that wants to incorporate laws form other countries into ours. The only concern I have is with our constitution and our standard of living, which must be high since more people are trying to get into our country then trying to leave.
