We are very grateful that our healthcare will stay intact for now. I don't really fully have a grasp on politics the way that others on here seem to. You must take my word for it that I, we need the help now. Our family would have gone down the drain if not for Obamacare.
When I was employed and working one or two jobs for the last twenty years I had the same thoughts about people getting free stuff while I was killing myself providing for my family. I never thought it would be me that would one day need the help. Just something to think about. I wish no hard times on anyone.

Most on this forum are getting healthcare paid for or partially paid for by taxpayers so hate Obamacare. I've never unstood why. Your post won't see much support but you are correct, at least until someone looks at costs instead of insurance coverage.

You are the perfect example of why the ACA was needed.
Not to say it can't be tweaked to address costs, but the bottom line is that this country is divided into two very definable camps.
1. Those who have coverage and think that anyone who doesn't are just freeloaders and shouldn't be afforded...what IMHO SHOULD be an American citizens right.
2. Those of us who believe a country's first priority should be to take care of its citizens, NOT to cater to the rich/Big Corporations...and/or look for a war to fight.
Glad you were able to change your previous attitude of being so cold-hearted and selfish toward other American citizens.
Sorry to hear it took serious medical issues...for it to happen though. :(
Best of luck to you and Mrs. Nucky going forward.
(Hopefully, you didn't actually vote for the narcissistic, egomaniac sociopath though :D).

I, we have to much heart and instead of preparing for this kind of event we spent the last 25 years helping various family, friends, strangers with hard times in their lives. We believe in Karma. It was a phenomenal life serving others. We miss it badly. We still help but only with words and not actions because of my limitations. Thank You for the good wishes, feels nice to get some encouragement.

Well, not meant to be harsh, but enjoy it while you have it. You might want to plan for an alternative means of health care, because you may not have Obiecare by the end of summer. It's about to fail and a lot of folks are going to be crying about it, rather than replacing it. It was never meant to be sustainable.

Can't really call it a failure if there was no vote. An example of failure is Obamare. Only 6 million more have health care today than in 2009 according to our gov figures and fact checking. But, millions lost their insurance and were made to buy Obamacare or pay a penalty. Millions are paying more for insurance, after Obama promised they would pay less. And now, many states are down to only one insurance company in the Obamacare pool. On top of it all, Obamacare was constructed to fail and the naive lefty voters still can't see it or admit it.

Wow! MDLBQ really likes to post! Too bad that he has no clue of what he is saying.
There are over 20 million formerly uninsured people who are now insured.
Remember that it was Chief Justice Roberts - a GW Bush appointee - that declared the tax (mandate) was Constitutional.
Yes, the Republican health plan did fail. Ryan and Trumpf (German slang for FART) could not gather enough Republican votes to carry it to victory. Therefore, it FAILED.

Dear guest:
You are correct. One wonders why Obamacare was needed in the first place? the focus was on the uninsured and uninsurable and yet Obama sought to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Why? that is a rhetorical question becuse everyone knew and knows that Obama constructed this plan to fail so he could move to a single payer plan. Why a single payer plan? Because it achieves more control and power to the federal government and it is a perfect mechanism for income redistribution, single payer health is every socialist dream.
Trump was the only adult in the room. he was smart to have pulled back and he will regroup and we will have a new health care insurance system in place before his 4 years are up and one that will be conducive to people's income and growth of business.

I was just listening to Fox News Sunday. The topic was the Freedom Caucus and how THEY defeated TrumpfCare.
The Freedom Caucus demanded that the Pre-Existing Conditions requirement be REMOVED so premiums would be less (or so they could be paid off by insurance companies).
How would that provision go over with all Villagers?
The extreme Republicans are trying to screw you over again.

I have found that Fox spends very little time on the actual content of the bill, and of corse on this forum, nobody discussing the actual content of the bill...just find an excuse for Trump....
"Trump's public comments about the healthcare bill gave individual Republicans in Congress two pieces of information that reduced their incentive to compromise with him about the bill's contents:
Trump doesn't really care what the bill does, exactly, so long as he can sign it and say that it "repeals and replaces" Obamacare.
Trump really, really wants to sign some bill quickly so he can get past this healthcare chore and move on to fun topics like trade and taxes.
You don't walk into a negotiation and tell your counterparty that you're desperate to make a deal fast and on any terms. But Trump did just that, which is why Freedom Caucus members knew the White House was bluffing when it claimed the bill was closed and wouldn't be amended further.
Trump invited the Freedom Caucus to squeeze him dry. Weak! Bad!
Trump eventually seemed to realize this error, claiming if no bill passed by Friday, he wouldn't participate in future efforts to repeal Obamacare.
But that threat was implausible because of his prior admissions. He should have read his own book:

"Trump is a highly successful businessman. But he is not, as he claims, a highly successful dealmaker.
Trump is an incredibly talented, natural marketer. He was very good at convincing people they should want to buy Trump apartments, reasonably good at convincing people they should want to golf at Trump golf clubs, and for a time quite successful at getting people to want to watch Trump fire people on television.
Trump innately understands certain kinds of consumers, and he understood things about the electorate that none of his opponents in the 2016 election did. There are reasons he won an election that nobody believed he could.
He wasn't very good at convincing people they should want to buy Trump Steaks, but then, nobody bats a thousand.
We know from what we've seen of Trump's tax returns that he lost a great deal of money in the 1990s and that he was making a great deal of money by the mid-2000s. Not coincidentally, over this period Trump shifted the focus of his professional endeavors away from businesses that were heavy on dealmaking and toward businesses that were heavy on marketing, particularly arrangements in which he would rent his name to somebody else who was actually in the business of developing real estate.
Unfortunately, unlike the general endeavor of being a "famous, rich business guy," there is no way to adjust the presidency so it's heavier on the marketing aspects and lighter on the dealmaking aspects.
It's a president's job to make deals. And Trump's lack of talent for dealmaking is going to be a major liability for him in office.

I have gov statistics to back me up. What do you have sandy, other than liberal talking points to back you up.
In 2009 there were Approx. 36 million without health care insurance.--politicfact.
Today, according to the CBO there are Approx. 31+ million without insurance. Easy math. Even you should be able to do it. After all, someone showed you how to log in to this site. I 'm sure they can do subtraction for you.
What was the count on the vote? Don't know? Maybe because they haven't voted yet. A postponement in not a failure, but suit yourself if you like the idea of your country failing. It's just like you on the left to be UN-American and wish it to fail. Just like Obamacare will be failing this year.

I'm afraid you are right it may fail but the reason will be Trump who has/will sabotage the Obama Care by not enforcing the mandate that requires people to buy health insurance.
I don't understand how republicans can on one hand say they won't force people to buy health insurance but when those same people need health care they have no problem forcing us responsible people citizens for paying for their health care.

The country cannot afford to "insure" 50 million people at a $1,000 a month value. They CAN'T pay...that is what Obamacare was all about..."insure" everyone with equal to $1,000 a month care and only "fine them" $750 a year. Most don't pay a thing because if you're already on welfare, it's included. They "supposedly" don't have $750 to spare.

Maybe Trump is not going to FORCE the mandate because Americans do not want it, other than liberals that want everyone else to pay their way and think that by forcing someone to purchase a product or service is going to help them. Maybe Trump, like most of us believes that the mandate is unconstitutional, regardless of how the last administration spun the lie that it was not a tax or penalty.
But, of course the leftards are going to blame Trump. I guess blaming Bush expired once Obie was evicted from the White House.

How do you pry away entitlements from the hands of freebie addicts?
The repeal and replacement for ACA included plans for returning control of Medicaid to the states were it could be better managed.
Medicaid originated to care for widows, their children and the disabled. Today it doesn't take much to get on board for a free ride on the Medicaid train. Its budget is busting at the seams
The federal government has mismanaged Social Security [I]nsurance, Medicare, Medicaid, VA and a number of other federal agencies. the federal government admits it cannot control fraud and waste and yet people applaud the failure of GOP to remedy this situation.
The Democratic Party/aka Socialist Republic of America continues its agenda to make economic slaves of us all. It has incorporated the ghetto mentality of always being victims. Democratic leaders , who by the way, live in the wealthiest zip code areas of the country, play to those victims because they understand vote getting and they fear where Trump's agenda of free market, law and order is going and its going in the opposite direction of their socialist agenda.
Some of us grew up in a time and a place when people were shamed for going on welfare and for not providing for themselves and their families. A man was expected to carry his weight and that of his family There was a time and place where if a neighbor did fall on hard times neighbors personally gave them a hand up, helped them find a job ,etc. Now one demands nanny government
provide. Nothing is free and that hand out is costing each and every person more of their freedoms then they recognize
Immigrants flock here illegally because America provides better for them then they can for themselves.

1. Is it necessary to label every person and demean them when discussing entitlements ? Can we not discuss it without demeaning people less fortunate than us ?

A man was expected to carry his weight and that of his family There was a time and place where if a neighbor did fall on hard times neighbors personally gave them a hand up, helped them find a job ,etc. Now one demands nanny government
provide. Nothing is free and that hand out is costing each and every person more of their freedoms then they recognize
Immigrants flock here illegally because America provides better for them then they can for themselves.
THANK GOD ,ER, GOVERNMENT BECAUSE THAT THEY HAVE AN INEXHAUSTIBLE SOURCE OF MONEY, ITS CALLED TAXPAYERS AND THE SCHEME IS CALLED INCOME REDISTRIBUTION.
An obsolete American concept is "self-sufficiency"

"yet people applaud the failure of GOP to remedy this situation"
Where was the gop when this has been going on for years, during their tenure. It's just like Obamacare, the gop has been railing against it since the day it became law. When the gop, trump, came in they had no replacement. Eight years to construct a replacement and they tried to come up with a bill in one month. Pathetic!

I guess your liberal talking points never explained to you the fact that Harry Reid (you know, that nasty little liberal turd in the senate) stopped a hundred House passed bills. When you suggest that Republicans never did anything in the last 8 years, well it just shows your ignorance. After all, the Dems did have control for 8 years.

Sure it is but a vote for Hillary would have made our Obamacare continue uninterrupted and I would have worried a whole lot less. A vote for Donald would be a crap shoot. Either way to say I was bought is off base. If you knew me for any amount of time you would know that to be an impossibility. I am not wealthy but I believe I am principled. If it was Hillary I would be sad she lost and if it was Donald I hope we survive it. God Help Us All! Even if someone on here loves The Donald you have to admit he is one scary :$: dude. Take Care. See You Guys In 30 Days. I enjoy it here more when I take a break. Stay Healthly.
You do not seem to grasp the fact that Obamacare is failing and will be dead by the end of the year. And you also seem to think that the gov could not have helped everyone better if they would have read the bill and worked out a better alternative. It costs too much. First thing Obamacare did was steal almost a trillion bucks from Medicare. Is that fair? Do you hate old people? Now, there are many states that are down to one or two insurance companies in the Obamacare pool. And they will be gone by the end of the year. Private insurance companies have to make money for their stock holders. You know, those that wish to or are already retired and living off of stock market earnings?
Obamacare has only about 6 million more folks with health care than in 2009. There are still over 31 million without health care. If Obamacare was so great, why so many still don't have it? And why is it that folks like me on a budget, have had to pay drastically higher for my insurance so that someone else that pays nothing or little gets better coverage than I do? Why should a large group of working folks have to pay thousands in high insurance premiums and even higher deductibles before they even get to use their insurance? Most folks will never use enough insurance to break even. I know people that are paying a combined premium and deductible amount of as much as $20K per year.

I have on simple question.
I hear you mouthing and saying Trumps words, but I hear very little in the way of concrete information from any of you OR HIM to substantiate that. So if you could enlighten me without the proverbial ancedotal stories and just simple facts that show what you say.
I was so very opposed to Obama Care....anyone who read my posts as Bucco knows that, but here is the story.
We have decided, both Republican and Democrats that we will have some kind of national insurance, that is if the statements from the WH are true. Thus, why did not the President who basically said this over and over on the campaign trail....insurance for everyone etc...why did he and the Republican party simply work together with the other side to fix the current situation. Is it that important who proposes it ? Is it not for the country and not for any party ??
I still do not understand that and admit I am not even close to understanding all of this. Oh, I read posters on here who mimic the WH and "think" they get it...they "think" they understand it but they do not. They simply mouth the party line and that includes BOTH parties.
If you mean what you say Mr President and it is easy to come to agreement, then get at it and stop talking.

Use google. I did. There are already at least five states that are down to only one insurance provider for the Obiecare pool. Many others are down to two and are predicted to lose those. You do not have to be a brain surgeon or listen to Trump to see the future of Obiecare. After all even the left admits that it was doomed to fail so that Hillary could bring in a single payer system.

Why would you expect the party that refused to listen to logic when creating Obamacare to listen to (or use) logic to fix it?
I am waiting for the day when someone says "Yeah, obamacare has failed, but only because we haven't tried REAL obamacare yet!"

You mean like their OTHER delusion? Equality... "We'll achieve equality when the white people are gone...when white men are gone".

I have said it a number of times BEFORE the election and since, and now as an official independent I can say....I am ashamed of the Republican Party....this is Paul Ryan speaking of his concerns on the President and health care "What I worry about, Norah, is that if we don't do this, then he'll just go work with Democrats to try and change Obamacare, and that's hardly a conservative thing," Ryan told CBS reporter Norah O'Donnell.
Ryan: Trump could work with Democrats on AHCA, Obamacare if GOP fails - Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/paul-ryan-trump-democrats-ahca-obamacare-2017-3)
And the beat goes on...and on...and on. We now have a party leader who does not want two parties working together.
"WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump trained his fire on members of his own party Thursday, declaring in the aftermath of the Republican’s failed health care push that the conservative Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire GOP agenda. He vowed to “fight them” in 2018 if they don’t get behind him.
The Trump tweet highlighted the growing schism in a Republican party that controls the White House and both branches of Congress yet appears to be teetering on the precipice of a civil war. Republicans plunged into a blame game over the demise of the years-long push to repeal and replace President Barack Obama’s signature health care legislation, with members sniping at each other over how much they can work with Democrats — or even the White House.
His poll numbers falling and his plans to move onto tax reform and a robust infrastructure program imperiled, Trump took to Twitter to attack the conservative group that many in the White House hold responsible for sabotaging last week’s health care vote.
“The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!” Trump said.
But the group remained unbowed, with several members immediately hitting back against a president whose agenda has stalled, whose approval ratings are hovering below 40 percent and who has been dogged by the ongoing probe into contacts between his associates and Russian officials.

He didn't seem to scare the Freedom Caucus
"WASHINGTON — When Representative Mark Sanford of South Carolina, fresh off helping torpedo his party’s bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, showed up at the Berkeley County Republican meeting on Saturday, he was met with applause and praise in one of the most conservative corners of his district.
So less than a week later, after President Trump on Thursday warned the Freedom Caucus that he would “fight them” when they face re-election next year, Mr. Sanford was hardly cowering in fear. Instead, he and other members of the Freedom Caucus returned fire.
“Intimidation may work with some in the short term, but it never really works in the long run,” Mr. Sanford said, adding that Mr. Trump should interpret the recalcitrance of conservative lawmakers as an indication of a flawed bill: “What you can’t do is shoot messengers.”
