It's a shame to loose what was a very good restaurant for several years. We went at lest once a week for the first few years but due to only fair food quality and soso service, we have only been there once in the past year. With a great location and a large customer base even an average restaurant should be able to make if management knows how to run a business. Several restaurants are doing very well for a long time ( Cane Garden, Lopez, Panera,Toojays,Thai Ruby,Mallory) and the newer Bonefish serve quality food at a fair price.

Wow! We were there a couple weeks ago and had a good lunch. They were very busy later in the day after we exited the movie, too.

Should be interesting to see how Cody's does there once they re-open.

A group of us ate there this evening (Thurs) and the food is still good. The current manager said they will be open for a few more weeks, so you better cash in on your coupons. A little premature on their closing though.

We were told that they did not "have" to close but owner was made an offer he couldn't refuse. We were also told that all employees had to fill out an employment application for rehire--even the wonderful greeter "Gene."---We will see how they do as a Cody's Steakhouse.

Okay, I'm confused. Last night they closed their doors. Tonight someone ate there? Maybe it was just regular closing time, although I would think the time must be getting close for them to close and transition to Cody's.

According to The Villages Gourmet Club web site Up The Creek should close in late summer and reopen as Cody's, after renovations, in Sept-Oct.

Let me see now on the 5th it is supposedly closed and on the 7th open.
Bad for business at Up the Creek with erroneous closing rumors floating about a well read web site.

From what I understand... the current owners will remain, just renovating and changing styles. Guess they thought there were enough seafood restaurants and figured they would do better as a steak house.

Never been to a Cody's but our neighbors have and they love it. Wide variety on the menu so I am not sure what type of restaurant to classify it as.

Looking at the web site menu and I see that they have an Early Bird Menu and specials from 3:30 to 6:00.
Hummmm, wonder how long that will last here in TV?

There's a Cody's in Ocala and I believe it's called either steakhouse or roadhouse. My sister and husband, who are here for the week ate at Up the Creek last night and said it was very good service and food. The waiter recommended the butter fish to them, saying it was their specialty and since they are closing on the 16th they should try it. My sister did and said it was delicious.

If Cody's is basically a steak house, I don't know if they will make any better than the other steak houses that closed very quickly. Many of us seniors have changed our eating habits as we are getting older and want to continue that trend. I know that there are still some people that consider a big steak, fries (no veggies) and a rich dessert as the only meal that they will eat but they are not the majority.
I looked at their menu and they have fresh fish abd chicken besides steaks and pork.
Looks like a pretty good mix of foods for all dietary preferences

The rumors are true, we are closing...BUT not for some time, there is no confirmed closing date. For those of you who do not know what a Cody's is, i urge you to look at the menu, it has a lot more than just steaks. As i said we are still open and encourage all of you to come see us :) We open at 11:00 and close at 9:00.

I'm very sad that UTC is closing. Last night I had the salmon and the butter fish and I could have had more. Utterly delicious. What I also like are the selection of side dishes. We sat outside and after the storm it was delightful and cool. I'll miss that, I hope the renovations don't change that.
I will go to Cody's and hope that it is as good as UTC.
