My front door handle on CYV has a lot of play in it.
Not particularly handy so wondering if perhaps an easy fix or barring that if someone could recommend a reliable locksmith.

First I would make sure the two assembly screws are snug or tight. They will work loose over time?
You can find the exact door handle model at Home Depot, ace, or lowes most likely for around $20 bucks depending on your model. Basically you have two screws on the side of the door and two screws holding the door knob assy. Togather. The door knob kits comes with instructions and two keys. The hardest part will be getting the screws started holding the door knob togather. Just note how it comes apart and assemble inreverse order, an adjustment my have to be made if misalign it slightly when tighten up the assembly screws, Just loosen the screws up enough to move the two half for better alignment.

Really more of a handyman job than a locksmith. But, a reasonable locksmith is Howard Hansen 708-785-1115. Great guy.

I would agree with the handyman to fix the door.
But search YouTube and you will probably find a couple of videos that show you how to fix the door. It should be easy and the first poster probably has the correct answer. No big deal after you see how to fix it on You Tube.

If the play is in the handles, there is another set screw on the inside handle, you need an Allen wrench to tighten. If you cannot do this, send me a PM.

If it is a Kwikset it's quarantined for life. Just call them and they will send you a new one.

There is a tab on the handle shaft that supposedly you push in with thin small blade and slide handle off of lock shaft.
I cannot seem to depress the tab enough to get the handle shaft to slide off.
We are snowbirds, leaving soon. may just leave it for next season. Don't really want to make situation worse.
Maybe check with homewatch service for suggestion. Thanks for your input
