Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced that to help pay down the deficit, he is pushing to have golf fees for seniors taxed. Free golf will be pro-rated on the prevailing standard to establish a safety net that will permit those who golf without paying green fees to pay their fair share. A chorus of opinionated posters at the Talk of the Villages website in central Florida weighed in with their views:

Keedy - hit the keyboard with a flurry of posts that concluded with something about black helicopters

Bucco - Sol Alinsky is behind this

Cabo35 - I agree with Bucco

Kahuna - let's all remain calm and approach this intellectually. No need to rush to judgement

Steve Z - an intrinsic elucidation of the plan reveals that it is typical of all government processes and we need to vote them all out

Talk Host - Can someone find out if they might be interested in taking out an ad on TOTV to promote the program

Chelsea - we won...live with it

Boomer - I'm in the process of doing a cost analysis impact study and will get back to you in the Investment Forum because you guys in the political forum are nuts

rshoffer - This clinches it - Obama's going down in four years, you don't mess with old people's golf

Kayacker posted 17 links defending both sides of the argument..although there was one more to the left than there was to the right

GNU - What else is new? We conservatives have vast experience with getting bent over in MA. Just another example of what we live with daily.

Billethkid - that :cus:, he's a ______, what the _ _ _ _ is he going to tax next while the sheeple stand by and watch - *this post has been edited by the administrators*

Cologal - I support it as long as there aren't any earmarks that tax skiing in Colorado

retired guy - responded with seniors Part III....* NOTE - text so long it timed out system and crashed the main frame

muncle - don't mess with my golf or with how you spell my name...and it's Munc"L"e, not Munc"I"e

captain1202 - Outrageous, I've just fired off letters to my senators and representatives, the PGA, the PBA, my CPA and the SPCA...this isn't over

Yoda - "Clear...... your mind must be..... if you are to discover the real villains behind the plot."

Tony - after Billethkid's post......tone it down or I'll close it down

njbchbum - damn.....another sleepless night

The Great Fumar - It can't be all bad....boycotting golf courses would free up tee times

There are more posts coming in as we hit the submit button for the new thread......feel free to pile on....what's that....Cabo has too much time on his hands?

Since I don't golf, taxing it at a buck-a-hole and using the money to provide health insurance for illegal aliens may solve some of the HR 3200 problem points.

Question: Who would be the Golf Czar?

((Cabo - Fantastic post!))

Finally a thread in Political I don't have to watch twice a day. Cut it out, Cabo. That was uncalled for.

CABO!

Why you ol' nutso right is righter writer! To think I almost missed this post!

I had begun to fear that TOTV had turned into nothing much more than dog poop and politics and matters postal, and then, you, sir, bestowed this little gem upon us. And to think...........I could have missed it.

I truly was not going to look at Political today. But your wicked title drew me in. And NOW, :cus: you, cabo, NOW I think I might love you. Geez! Geez! Geez! I have a feeling you probably blow the top off Stanford-Binet. Ohhhhhhh, if only you would use your powers for good and come to stand proudly beside the moderates.

Oh, and, btw, just for making me laugh, I am going to let you know that the FDIC has extended the $250,000 insured limit until December 31, 2013. IRA accounts will remain at $250,000 coverage, as they have been for a few years, but other accounts will revert to $100,000 insured on January 1, 2014.

(Now, if only Kahuna will go find out when CD rates will be going up. I know. I know. Don't get me started on inflation. But a 5% CD might be OK. Kahuna was a banker. He needs to work on that for us. And then, and then, oh, no, we have to worry about the expiration of those tax cuts for cap gains and dividends due to expire all too soon. Ohhhhhhh, so much to think about. I digress.......I will have to get back to you on all that.)

Now, back to topic........ here's another little piece of info for you. I heard that there was a column in the "Orlando Sentinel" that reported that government satellites will be taking pictures of citizens' front yards, all across America, so that yard sales can be reported to the IRS. Profits will be taxed. Comments on this issue may be shared by hitting the columnist's blog. (uh oh -- morning after edit: I sure hope I do not need to disclaim this part.)

Very creative Cabo. I think I was abducted today. I went for my daily walk and stopped at a little Kool Aid stand for a 50 cent cold drink. As I was chugging it down the little girl asked me if I wanted my change. I said " no, keep the change." I started feeling light headed and saw this big long black limousine pull up to the curb.
I must have passed out because I couldn't account for 3 hours when I woke up sprawled out on my back lawn. My wife says I have been acting weirder than usual since my walk. I wonder what happened in that limo.
Wow...I checked my e-mails...wait till my new buddy Barry O gets a look at these.....:beer3:
