View Full Version : Do we need a lawyer?
We are going to buy a house. I presume that I need a lawyer. Any suggestions or comments?

Yoda...if you are buying a new property from The Villages, you probably really don't need a lawyer. They have the whole process down to a science. I didn't have one and most everyone I have talked to did not engage a lawyer.
If you're buying a resale and especially if non Villages brokers are involved (or a FSBO), then, yes you should get a lawyer. Sorry, can't help you with any names.
Make sure you let us know what model and neighborhood you bought into. Congrats!!!

... gives great advice.
We bought new - always had lawyers previously in the NE and SC - did not need or use one in TV.

If it is new, no lawyer, just as these very astute ladies have said. You will see how very efficient this whole process is.
OH. And congratulations and WELCOME Yoda. I haven't had my coffee yet this morning. Hope you enjoy your new home for a thousand years and hope it is close to ours!
We bought a resale and did not use a lawyer. Straightforward transaction with the realtors.

The only reason you would need a lawyer would be to protect yourself.
If you'd rather not do that, then of course, don't retain one.

Well put.
