reform circus. So we have the politicians at odds with what each is saying about the proposal. The many media providers have a plethora of information just like the piece in this thread (all biased in behalf of who ever they support).

Obama gets in front of the mike and camera (AGAIN!!!!) telling us anything we have just heard and read is not true, and gets applauded by the media for debunking the so called myths.

If you are among the we the people who are not for it and are outspoken about it, you have been labeled as being part of a manufactured mob.

Does anyone think/believe we the people will ever get a real perspective on what is actually being proposed? How much it will cost? How much and what we (Over 65 seniors) will lose?

Hopefully there is enough noise from the true angry Americans to stop the charade in it's tracks. Those who depend on re-election are certainly re-evaluating their position with the angry Americans.....both parties.

Remember what is party insensitive is those who will wind up with less and paying more....most of US!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As if this would be unexpected I disagree with some of these points based on my own employer provided plan:

Freedom to choose what's in your plan No I don't get that now...if I lived in CA, where my company is based or in some major metropolitan city I could choose from several plans. But I don't so only one plan is offered.

Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage Nope only one plan...

And I do have a Healthcare Spending Account but no matching from my company. They did start the yearly plan with covering the deductible but as that went up the contribution did not.

Freedom to keep your existing plan Employers can change the plans at will...be serious. And mine is self insured

Freedom to choose your doctors Nope have to choose from a list of "approved doctors"

-----

One point I will agree with is that gate keeper plans are scary. If you pick the wrong gate keeper he/she can get greedy and keep you from getting the care you need from a specialist. You will get care but from the primary doctor which, in the past, has had problems.

Hey! Freedom to Choose is a self copy write expression of MR. GNU in this forum. You used Freedom 4 times in this post and I expect that you divert 1 tenth of your health care expenses to me. My deductible just doubled.:cus:

Those weren't my words...I followed the link provided and copied the bullet points. I was just comparing what they said to my plan.

The purpose of health insurance was not to provide a lock-step process which becomes mandatory to the individual. Insurance covers potential and actual harm in ways to reduce costs which otherwise would be brutal to the individual. In no way does any insurance plan say you can't use any health care provider - the plans just identify which providers have made deals for discounts and identify claims procedures for recovery of some (but rarely all) costs to providers who have not gotten into the "preferred" pool.

As an example, for the last 10 years I've used the same dentist, a periodontist I trust implicitly. He's not a "preferred" provider on any plan I have, but I go to him twice a year, paying him directly, and would not consider going to any of those listed on my health insurance plan because doing so would save me a couple hundred bucks. That "trust factor" is a strong one, and much more valuable than dealing with strangers. Sure, it means my annual health care bill is higher doing so, but the value is worth it.

So, freedom of choice is always available under today's "system." It's just a matter of what is more important, and if exercising this freedom means there's a couple restaurant trips missed, or "Today's Special Value" is ignored once in a while, it's a fair tradeoff to me.

SORRY cologal, my apology! I'm still willing to accept the amount equal to the increased taxes that you are willing to pay for health care, to pay for my increased health care costs.:pepper2:

We all have a Freedom To Choose. But, we only get to choose from whats available, not what we want to have.

You can choose to move to CA to get health care options, but you choose not to. You have the freedom to locate employment with a firm that gives you more of the options that you want, but you choose to keep your current employment. Unless you have a contract, union or not, that dictates what is provided you for health care package, you accept what is offered.

Life is full of choices. We are free to chase anything our hearts desire and we set our own limits as to what we will climb the ladder for. I for one stayed in a job with a lower income than I was capable of earning, because it offered security, great health care, liberal sick leave and vacation time off. Yes I made less than my contemporaries, my choice, but I've enjoyed the benefits of lifetime health care coverage, including 18 years of disability retirement coverage with the same health care coverage that I enjoyed during employment.

Make your CHOICE, exercise your FREEDOM, chase your DESIRES. Above all, don't expect others to provide you with something just because you feel you deserve it.

No problem GNU....

It is a difficult issue. I heard an estimate that each of us pays $1500.00 annually for the uninsured that use emergency rooms as their primary care.
I am not happy with the numbers of non-citizens without healthcare insurance.

All that being said something has to be done to revise healthcare insurance.
