My wife and I are having a home built in Bonita which will be completed on Nov 2. We have sold our current home and will be moving out on Oct 1. It will take us about a week to work our way down to FL. We are looking for some place to reside either in or near The Villages that would be inexpensive and clean with a kitchen.
Any of you folks have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Doug

You've probably already thought of this, but I'm sure you could go through The Village's rental program and just rent a house for the time you need it. Congratulations on your new home!

Congrats on selling, now the fun begins. We rented a nice villa in Sabal Chase in June. Planning on doing the same in beginning of Sept. as our closing in Bonita is Sept.10th. Where is your house?

Thanks for your replies!
We are on India Hook Terrace (interesting name) on top of the hill.
Generally speaking, what does a villa cost to rent per week?

you might want to check with the Microtel on 441 which has a small kitchen or the Hampton Inn on 466..............GN

Here is a thread (read the whole thing) that mentions the inexpensive rooms at La Hacienda Hotel in Spanish Springs.

I stayed at the Marriott Towne Suites right in Spanish Springs. They were more than accommodating and the convenience is excellent. Their suites are equipped with all the eating and drinking utensils and dishes, refrigerator, small cook top, coffeemaker and microwave in case you want to have a light snack. Continental breakfast is served in the a.m. and you're only 1/2 block off the square.
I also believe they discount TV owners. It doesn't cost much to place a phone call and make an inquiry. Try to get a local line and speak with the manager as the Marriott Reservation Center treats you just like the usual tourist.
BIG congratulations and welcome to your new hometown.

YES, Marriott at SS gives a 25% discount. We just booked a room in July and I think? it was $88.00 after the discount. Call them directly as suggested.

What a great forum. I am still feeling my way around. Can anybody tell me what the weather is like around Christmas time?

Last year the weather was great. Temps were in the 70's and some days into the 80's. Now that was for the month of December. At night it would get into the 50's. The sun was bright and some rain but not much.
Now that was last year and that is about typical. On year I was at New Smyrna Beach and on Christmas day the temp was 23 degrees so it can get cold.

That sounds wonderful. I am contemplating a visit as a surprise Christmas present for my significant other.

Great question, I was going to ask the same thing. Plan on putting the house on the market by Oct. When it sells, we're retiring and need to rent by the month until we find a place and close on it. I guess we'll have to move our stuff to a storage place there, then move again when we move into our new home. I understand some moving companies will move you out of your old home, store your stuff, then move it into your new place. I don't know what the cost comparision would be, but I'll find out when the time comes. Anyway it will all be an adventure I'm sure.

Les,
Look into the TV relocation services - just call the main number and ask for them. They will recommend realtors in your area and you will get 60% off the cost of the move and storage.

nONIE,
The TownePlace suites does allow animals - you pay an additional $100 for the stay - not per night. Another option is Doggy Doo Run Run charges $20/day for boarding - an additional cost but ...

Surfangel,
Do you allow pets? A courtyard villa would be perfect!
