Heard a loud :boom:Our entry light at the front door of our 7 year old Lilly fell from the ceiling and shattered. In a cover entry, but looks like it rusted and globe dropped out. Glad no one was standing there. I will be picking up glass for years. Anyone ever had this happen?

To clarify, this was the exterior light?

I would call Warranty. I know it is seven years but that shouldn't happen and if you are nice they probably will do something to remedy the situation.

Doubt it.

Did anyone change a light bulb, if you did you own it, may not have secured the glass properly after changing the bulb

Was this in the ceiling or by the front door of a covered entry, outdoors?

I am glad no one was hurt.

Hanging on chain from ceiling outside of our front door. Still the original light bulbs., and house has not been repainted, or power washed. The bottom and glass fell onto the concrete, shatter glass down the sidewalk, and into our landscape. Screw on the bottom where the glass would have been still tightly in place. The electrical and light bulbs are still in tack and working. Took a chunk out of our textured paint where it dropped.

It almost looks like it's a rust issue that's a little scary. I am going to call the Warranty Department first I need to know where the light came from so I can match The three garage lights and lamp post. It was so loud when it fell I thought somebody was breaking through the front door. We had just had two night stands delivered earlier so glad the delivery guys were spared.

If you are the original owner you should have received a fairly large and complete list of all the components used in the construction of the house. We've had to replace one of the garage lights and the list showed the manufacturer and model. We've also used the list to purchase bathroom towel rods that match the originals and a couple other items. If you don't have the list, the Warranty Department should be able to provide the info. They may also be able to provide you the complete list.

Good Luck and I'm glad no one was injured.

It sounds as if you have a water leak in or around that fixture that may prove to be a larger problem. Hope not

Ceiling is intact and not discolored, no visible signs of water. I am thinking just a manufacturer defect

Could there be a possibility that the delivery guys hit it when delivering the tables and weakened it???

It is simply a consumer grade, read that as very cheap, Chinese light fixture made of the weakest glass and sheet metal know to man.

If you can't find the make & model of your light (or if it's discontinued), you might consider installing a fan with light in its place. We did that because we wanted some breeze while sitting on our front porch. It doesn't need to conform to the garage lights. Not too expensive (complete with remote), and Pike's did the job.

I have a hanging light fixture like the OP. However it needs maintenance ( cleaning etc) but I don't have a ladder high enough to reach to the top. suggested to my wife that we install a recess LED light and avoid further maintenance . her reply "wrong thought":D

Oh, well, you can't win 'em all. (But you do enjoy her cooking, if I recall...)

Did the same thing with a fan/light on our entry--remove the light bulbs from our garage light fixtures, got a street light near by , don't need them

Sir/Madam

I take issue with your statement. We have built ten new homes in our lifetime. A couple were custom. For the money spent here, you get decent stuff and great follow up.

Plus according to your posts you are new here in April 2017.
