Had 2 rooms done with laminate, 2 bathrooms with tile. [Material removed by Tony, admin] . . . decided to go with FM this time. Took in diagram of villa, was told they had one, no need to measure, then called up during job and wanted more money than the contract..said he was not making any money...started over a week ago. Job still not done. Installers just moved beds and furniture in without ever drymopping all the dust they left on the floor. had to be taken out and redone. Missing a threshold, now, for over a week. Behavior of the salesman is slowly improving, but treatment shouldn't take multiple apologies. Do not recommend.

Very suprised to hear this.
We had Floormasters do laminate & tile in various parts of the house, on three different occasions, and can not say enough good things about them.
They were on time, did a good job, cleaned up when they were done.
Very pleasant experience and a job well done.

I was told by a local flooring retailer that in Florida all installers are independent contractors. Some of them may have been working for the same store for a long time but they are not considered employees. Make sure your full contract is with the retail store and they assume responsibility for the workmanship and behavior of the installer they select.

You can buy the finest flooring product in the country but it only takes one jerk installer to destroy it. Caveat emptor is no longer strong enough.

I am also surprised to hear of your experience. I have used Floormasters in two homes - laminate, carpet, and tile floors as well as a backsplash in the kitchen. In both homes the installers did a professional job.

Even though they had a diagram of our floorplans they came out to measure before giving me a firm price.

Wow - We had FM install our tile in LR & lanai. Also had back splash installed in kitchen. No issues and highly recommended them to others. Installers name was Ron. No problem with him and his young partner. Cleaned up after themselves before leaving. Sorry you've had problems.

We had Floormaster, in fact, we were so pleased we recommended them to F16. Our installers were wonderful. That's what I'm wondering... if different contractors do different jobs? Anyway, ours were great. We did the dining room and living room. My problem came in with the salesman (I later found out he was the Manager Eddie.) Just awful and at times offensive! He thinks he's a comedian and he's not. When you have a problem, he can get very snarly. So, if you go there, do yourself a favor and ask for anyone but Eddie! But, I want to repeat, the installation was wonderful and I love the flooring.

Here's the second part to the story. We then decide to have the bedroom flooring done and we want a new look. I dreaded seeing Eddie again, but we plodded back to Floormaster. We also looked at Quality Flooring, Lowe's and Home Depot. Last stop, Best Flooring on 466A and I couldn't be happier! They are true professionals and they have the latest in designs! They too have our floor plans. No need to measure, we found a great new design, ordered and in the next week, it was installed.

No stale jokes, no stories about "trying to get our shipment on the next truck" no quibbling. So, my current recommendation is Best Flooring. I just love'em! :eclipsee_gold_cup:

and thennnnnnn, F16 recommended them to me... (see how the chain works?) I had them put all wood floors in all my rooms, including bedrooms - because of the dogs mainly- and I totally love the job they did for me. Chels is right, one of the salesmen is a bit annoying but I was lucky to get Jason. I had them do a very challenging job in my living room/dining area floors and because of the particular installer I had, it was done beautifully. I really challenged them and Jason said it couldn't be done, but the installer liked the challenge and did it for me. The biggest problem was their supplier for the floors kept shipping in the wrong saddles which held up the job for awhile. But all is done and I'm very happy with their service.

How do you find this company? I searched the Better Business Bureau site online for both Floormasters and Floor Masters and they had no entries under either name. I like to check out a company before I use them. Do they operate under some other name?

I had several companies come to give me estimates on flooring. I could not believe inadequacy of these employees. I made a decision to go with "Floors R Us" on 441 in Belleview and am I ever glad I did after hearing all those Horror stories from Villagers! Floors R Us are very professional and "Honest"! My floors are beautiful! They were the highest priced from all my estimates, but worth every penny and more.

Just had "The Laminate People" do all the floors in my whole house. The whole process was handled very professionally. They do not subcontract any installations. They are located in Clermont but do not have a store there, they come to your house with samples . It is great to see the different flooring in the exact environment that it will be installed. No pressure and very patient with me (changed my mind a million times). Very happy with my choice.

FM did a friends house, a few months later it had to be redone. But the job was done right the second time with no problems. I have sent people to them for flooring and have some of them tell me, that once the job got started they wanted more money due to job being more than they thought. They had the floor plans of the house. if they give you a quote then they need to stick to it. Dont change the quote in the middle of the job.
They do use independent contractors also, as most companies around here do.

I posted this originally on December 10, 2009. Nothing has changed and I'll stand behind every word of it. I am so sorry if you have had a bad experience. Give them a chance to make it right.

Real nice to deal with. In addition they are making area rugs and doing the carpeting in the bedrooms for us as well. The installation is this week. We anticipate that all will go well as that has been the experience of others on the street.

Update on our installation: We have been VERY satisfied with our major flooring job. FloorMasters (ask for Ed Bertoloti) sold us laminate and carpeting for our Gardenia. We have laminate in the entryway, living room, dining room, Den/Office and the two hallways leading to the bedrooms. Quality product and excellent installation. The pricing was right too. We put carpet in the guest and master bedrooms. We needed custom trim in the Den to match the built-in cabinetry and we had a self-created selection issue with the Master Bedroom and they worked with us on both. They went above and beyond what would be expected. Ed's number one priority was to make us satisfied and happy customers. FloorMasters certainly did that. Great employees and professional installers. We recommend them without reservation.

Shopped all over and found floormasters to be the least expensive. We did a huge project with laminate, tile and carpet in our 2100 foot home. Eddie knows his stuff and could be better to work with if he would just slow down but that is just his personality. We ended up working with Jason and he is a great guy to work with, very patient.
Took longer than expected but in the end they did a super job. Through this whole 4 month project of addition on home etc. we have learned that things just move at a much slower pace here in the south.

I am a retired flooring man and I can tell you from experience most all the retail stores use sub contractors but the stores are liable for all the jobs they quote. On the laminate question, make sure they are using a vapor barrier under the laminate or you will have a problem with the wood.

My laminate floor is making me crazy!! Every step in every room sounds like you are walking on rice crispys. They have changed the floor 3 times with no improvement. They changed the floor, changed the pad with no improvement. :cus: Concrete Pad is level---so whats the problem. We have talked to the flooring manufacturer and claims department. No one has any idea whats going on here or what the solution is. I'm sure we can't be the only people with this issue. What I need is some advice on what to do next!!!
