We're here visiting during this rainy day weather. The storms slowed us up getting in.. missed the TOTV luncheon.:cry: Just wondering where the popular hangouts are when the entertainment at the Squares is rained out...

My favorite thing to do on a rainy day in the Villages is to sit on the lanai and watch the rain. Then eat, read, sleep, and start the cycle all over again!
There so much to do here when it's sunny, I wear myself out! I love the rainy days to recharge my batteries.

From my personal observation, it appears that a LOT of people go to the supermarkets, department stores, etc. and just wander around aimlessly.

I love to get my art stuff out and draw and paint. And I love to watch the rain. I have always loved a rainy day. I like to have friends over to feed them and to chat. I love to watch TV and I also like to clean.
I know. But I do. I like to Clean.
Will some of you still like me?

I was right there with ya until you got to the "like to clean" part. :a20:
I have a feeling people would love you no matter what, GG.

Rainy days are meant to get on the computer and check out what the other members of TOTV have to say. Also, head for the "hurricane shelf" and pull out a good book so I can read, read, read while the rain waters the grass and outdoor plants.

Go for a long long walk or jog in the rain with someone, if it is not lightening, and get totally soaked. Otherwise, go to someplace indoors to walk, such as the mall in Ocala, and then to a movie; or go to Katie Belle's - it is usually busy there when it is rainy, or to Margarita Republic's, Urban Flats, or Havana - someplace where there is live music; or drive to a nice mall, like in Sanford, to shop and to take a long walk. If it is a rainy night that they have a live band, we also sometimes like to go to The Vue nightclub in Clermont. I really like to get out, and get wet, and do something when it is raining, not stay in. Also, if it is rainy for very long I go to the tanning bed to get the UV light, which is so important. (I don't buy the sunscare tactics; research shows that being without sunlight is much more of a health risk than getting a moderate amount of sun - just be sure not to get burned; that is when you are risking health problems). Sunshine and being outdoors alot is one of the main reasons I moved to Florida, so let the rain come, let the winds blow, I will be out doing something, regardless.

Freeda,
I really loved your answer. You helped me realize that the reason rainy days get me down is because I stay inside! Thankyou, next rainy day I am going outside and walk in the rain or go shopping or something , anything but stay home! And as Annie said" The sun will come out Tomorrow", that little girl had a very positive attitude!!!

It is also good for sunny days!!!

We have an open view from our lanai and find the skies fascinating during the recent storms. Beautiful colors, breathtaking cloud formations, and spectacular lightning (too close we know). Impressionist artists would love it.

JoJo will tell you that I am practically transported by the sunsets over the water that you can see from her lanai. If you look at her avatar you will see a spectacular one.
When I get a little better with my acrylic painting I am going to capture one of her sunsets.

as the song says....rainy days i do not mind at all staying in my cozy home and doing whatever i feel like...computer, read, tv, pray, meditate, music, etc...but rainy nights are great on the covered patios of our country clubs and restaurants which feature music, dancing, dining, and companionship of my great group of friends....we hang out a lot at havana and red sauce but there are others out there...the newspaper should really feature more about the country clubs and their programs...

Cook some good comfort food, then curl up and watch a good movie...
Pretend it's winter... then it doesn't feel so hot when the sun does come back out.
