We went to Codys tonight for fajita night and as usual we got there at 4:45 to avoid a long wait. Much to our surprise, there was no wait! The whole time we were there there was no wait...lots of open tables. Anyone else see a difference in their dining times or traffic? We can finally eat dinner at our normal time now....😊

Got to Perkins at 4:00 for their BOGO and I couldn't tell the difference. Still crowded [emoji53]

We were "out and about" from early this afternoon til after dinner tonight. Traffic is noticeably thinner...though S.S. square was hopping pretty well at 7p.m. (it was Market Night however). Can't speak to restaurants...though we ate at Belle Glade last week and it was pleasant with no wait.

Ding Dong the Cloggers are gone. No more clogged roads, movies, restaurants and Town Squares. It's a great time in the neighborhood.

I am a terribly impatient person who is currently in a 12-step program, but without the snowbirds and lines, we wouldn't have the number of businesses we have.

Truer words are rarely spoken. The economy of Florida and also The Villages depend on the seasonal visitors and tourists, otherwise, there would be higher taxes and perhaps even a State income tax. Off the subject a bit. I keep hearing about "snowflakes" as well as "Snowbirds". Difference?

Snowflakes are the ones showing up on the "other" Villages news website- you know, the one with the mugshots...

In the day, it was "Yankees" and "damn Yankees". Yankees went home. Damn Yankees stayed.

I always thought snowbirds come seasonally (winter months) each year, whereas snowflakes come sporadically throughout the year whenever they can.

I think snowflakes come and go and snowbirds are here for the Winter. Doesn't matter if you rent or own.

Mugshots seem to be permanent residents, snowbirds, snowflakes or "outsiders".

Snowbird flys in to get out of the cold winter, still own a summer home elsewhere, can be owners. Snowflakes float in and out wherever they want most likely own.
I was a snowbird until retirement, other half is still a snowflake coming and going when the flights are cheap.

If the CSA won the war The Villages wouldn't exist, Texas would have ceded from the CSA and the USA would have another third world country to its south. Yeah, the North won.

I love snowbirds. They bring a joy, an enthusiasm we frogs no longer have. They don't take the beauty of TV for granted. I miss them when they leave, but I'm grateful for the slower times, the shorter lines, the slightly more sane driving. They help our economy tremendously. They pay year-round amenities even when not using any facility here. Imagine our community without them -- the shops that would be out of business, the restaurants that would never even consider opening here, how high our amenity fees would be without them. We should be falling over ourselves thanking them for being snowbirds. We couldn't survive without them. (And we're grateful when they leave so we can enjoy all that we have with their assistance but not their presence.)

Now, don't get me started on Yankees, being a Westener raised by a Southerner and still having family throughout the South.

We love our snowbird neighbors, we will be visiting them up north. We have become family.

Despite little disagreements, all Villagers have a strong bond.

Your snowbirds are coming this way which thrills us because most of the restaurants reopen. The economy all around is being boosted. Yet when falls arrives, we sigh with relief because parking is easier, and there are no boat trailers to watch out for.

Enjoy the peace and quiet while I will enjoy the good life on the Chesapeake Bay! See you when it cools down in TVs.

It's 41 up north and 96 here. I could use an in between temp. Very little kid action this week, you can walk the isles at grocery and be out the door in half hour

Best part of snowbirds leaving. Starting May 1st green fees drop from $55 to $24, yes they went up a $1 this year, just like every other year.

I agree! We wouldn't have the restaurants and businesses that we have if it weren't for the snowbirds. T

I think it is great when this beautiful place is humming along at full capacity and I think it's just fine the way it is now also. I swear that we never once waited in a line in any grocery store or department store. We didn't hang out with the next door neighbors everyday but it was great having someone so great living next door and it is different with them having headed north last week. I have been told I have the patience of a saint and that I have a long fuse. Being a little delayed getting to an appointment isn't going to upset me. I just hope all the snowbirds made it home and get back here safely and with their health.

That is correct. I was at Publix today at Colony and it looked like it was going out of business.
