I closed on a courtyard villa in Duval last Monday (by mail) and I was wondering if I had to Physically go to the Villages to get an ID number. I plan on going down in Sept. but if I could get my ID now I could get on The Villages web page and get other publications, that are only availiable to Villagers. Also, does anyone know of, or have a todo list for new homeowners. I will be there there for about 10 days in Sept. but I am afraid that I will forget to do something that is important to get done while I'm there.
Thanks,

Bill,

I doubt you'll get a resident ID # issued over the phone...the IDs are picture IDs and numbers are issued at that time. You can call the customer service center at 352-753-4508 to be sure. I'm not sure why you'll need an ID in advance. All of the websites, with the exception of tee time reservation and guest ID requests, do not require resident ID for login.

You didn't say whether you bought a new home or resale and what your plans are for visiting, living in, or renting out your place for the future. Check zcaveman's "nuts and bolts of the villages" post for a lot of helpful hints. If you will be absent for a long time, you might want to make arrangements for home watch services, lawn/pest/fertilizer, make sure the post office won't deliver to your box and forward items to your permanent home, setup autopay for your local bills (amenity, electric, etc). If you bought a new home, you'll want to arrange for your walk through with the builder's supt.

If you think of any specific questions you have, please post them here and I'm sure you'll get some answers.

Congrats and welcome to the Villages.
