Went out of state to watch our youngest grandchild perform in a high school play. Spent the weekend with our daughter and her family which includes a 15 year old, an 18 year old, and a 23 year old schoolteacher who was home for the weekend.

I came home and cancelled reservations on two beautiful side by side homes in Key West for next year. We were going all out on our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

This weekend I had an epiphany. I would be shelling out over $10K just so my grandkids could stare at their phones in Key West instead of Georgia. Nope....not gonna happen.

Could always make a rule when cell phones, iPads, etc. are allowed out. Rest of the time put away, other than for emergency calls. Your house (so to speak), your nickel, your rules. This works in more than one household that I know of when grands visit.

I suggest you and the bride take the 10 day Panama Canal cruise, kick back and just enjoy the alone time.
Our 50th is coming up soon, and that's what we're doing. Overnight at a fancy hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, take the cruise, return for another night at the hotel. They will take care of your car while you are away.:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for that tip. Sounds great, but I just booked a week in Tortola. Flying into St Thomas, USVI and spending the night before taking the ferry to BVI. A week in a Bed and Breakfast and a ferry ride back to St Thomas. Spend another night there and fly back to Orlando.
