I just lost my Belgian Shepherd and I am looking for another dog. I am interested in a dog about 1 year old and house broken. Not necessarily another shepherd but I do want a dog that is low maintenance. Not one that needs grooming. I do not want a dog that is much older than a year or two. The time with them is so short anyway.

Pat I am very sorry for the loss of your beloved Shepherd. I have lost a few dogs of my own in the past and have found that getting another dog right away is a great thing to do, in my own opinion. Altho it will not erase the pain and wonderul memories, it does help with the void of not having them around and the sorrow of losing them.
Good luck on your search for your new friend. I dont live in TV yet so sorry I dont have any suggestions of where to go other than the local shelter, where they always have many beautiful and loving dogs hoping someone will take them home and love them.

thanks, Jeannie,

I have been looking at the shelters. I have been to a couple shelters but just have not found the right dog. You know which one is right for you as soon as you see it. My belgian shepherd was a rescue and he was the greatest loving dog. I will keep searching. The right one will come along. I am not in a hurry. I want to make sure it is the right fit for both of us.

Roscoe,

God bless you for looking at the shelters to fill that empty spot in your life. Working at one myself for so many years I know how new dogs come in every day and Im sure it wont be long before the "right" one comes in. Please dont give up on the shelters , you seem like a very patient person! What a wonderful attribute!
