Rumor has it that the softball complex on 466, adjacent to the school building, will be demolished for the expansion of the school district buildings.
Is there any truth to the rumor?
If it becomes fact where will the new softball complex be located?

Right behind the tree line at Saddlebrook is the Morse's estate which is 2700 acres, they would probably handle giving up a 100 acres. An additional parking lot would be needed, but there is some open space in front of the polo stadium for parking. I never did like Buffalo Glen, when they brought in that Georgia red clay about 3 years ago I dreaded having to play there.

The most logical place would be that big landfill, building materials lot located under the power lines east of Sarasota Executive. They should be about done with that area as Osecola Hills and Pine Ridge are finished up. They'll be needing a new landfill area down in Fenney.

I've been trying to get an answer on this for a few months... I contacted John Rohan, the villages unmentionable internet news service and the POA .... it seems no one has any info.

Then, one can conclude it is a rumor at this time.

I would think that the softball field is one of the recreational facilities that we "bought" under the recent bond issued for the amenities sites South of Hy. 466. If so the CDD or Rec. Dept. should be forthcoming in disclosure of its use or future demise and what its "cost was as part of the bond deal. "We" just paid big bucks for the imputed discounted cash flow "paid" to these facilities thru our monthly fees for many years into the future.

:read: If you look online - Saddlebrook softball field is listed as owned by the VCCDD. Buffalo Glen is owned by The Villages and listed as "Education" under the reason for being tax exempt.
Everything I have stated is public info.(as of today) I hate to add to rumors.... let's wait and see.

With ALL of the softball leagues that is happening here, I would doubt they'd be razing this without first posting it and not leaving it to "rumors".

If you actually take a close look at that landfill, you can see that it will be there for a long time. They just had their operating permit renewed.

buffalo glen softball complex was not included in the recreational facilities that were just purchased by the south side residents....also has been reported by the grounds workers that they just recently had surveying crews there

It's just a rumor until The Villages Developer makes it known if it's true or false. It would seem logical that if the Charter school is expanding that the softball fields might be serious candidates to be relocated. Time will tell.

There probably Relocate them to the new villages beyond the turnpike half way to Orlando. Hey, it will still be in the villages. If they have drive up here, then north forty drive can down there.:plane:

Get used to it. Today facilities like this are spread throughout The Villages and some people live close while others live not so close. If you want to use that facility you will have to travel.
