Not all terrorists are Muslim. Take for instance Richard Rojas. Dominican faces murder charge in Times Square rampage (https://dominicantoday.com/dr/world/2017/05/19/dominican-faces-murder-charge-in-times-square-rampage/)

Parents Dominican born, they almost certainly came to America on "improper" papers.

His family has leached off of american social services for years.

Let the feds look into criminal immigrants paperwork and deport them legally. After the prison sentence of course.

His family has leached off of american social services for years.

Just like Trump policies have greatly reduced illegal border crossing, if they terminate citizenship in a highly publicized case, like a Richard Rojas, if applicable, we would see a huge reduction in the migration of scum into America.

Absolutely, America should only let in those that can absolutely help America. Those that can assimilate into a peaceful America.

Most Muslims don't qualify just as most Dominicans do not.

America is FULL...we don't need immigrants.

They can't assimilate...it's against their religion. We are infidels...below them...not worthy of them. Like blacks are to us. Blacks will never assimilate because they are genetically too different. Incapable.

You don't want ANY immigrants...especially brown people. It NEVER works out well...never never never. Find one if you don't believe me. Find a successful place that was white and is now independently black.

When you read with an agenda and are an unapologetic bigot, your ignorance gets you into trouble. You make assumptions that are not there, you interpret everything you see or hear through a filter of hate and those who are not so ignorant cannot understand how you get from A to B.

So you cite a reference, good for you. Why you used a website Dominican Today rather than a more traditional one for information about Rojas I can't guess. But you concluded he was born in the DR and came here outside the law. And here is what the actual article says in total. I have removed nothing. This is the whole article

"Of Dominican parents, Richard Rojas, 26, who yesterday plowed into 23 pedestrians in Times Square, killing one tourist, discharged in 2012 by the US Department of Defense (DOD) for violent behavior and aggression.
The rampage injured 22 people including four in critical condition and left three in serious condition.
Rojas was undergoing psychological evaluation in a hospital awaiting tests for drugs, but hasn’t been formally charged as of Thurs. night.
The DOD said Rojas was dishonorably discharged from the US Navy after having beaten a taxi driver in Florida and for allegedly threatening to kill military police officers.
Rojas enlisted in the Navy on September 17, 2011, and was discharged four months later."

It does not say he was born in DR, but that his parents were. In fact he was born in the Bronx, is a full US citizen and enlisted in the military where his mental health issues became obvious but were seemingly not addressed. His actions in Times Square are not terrorism related but mental health related. So your post alleging terrorism is wrong and your "fact" about his birth is wrong. Other than that, nice job trying to make this tragic event fit your despicable world view.

He was born in the bronx. Do you know the dominican culture? In particular how, why they migrate and how they assimilate? Doubt you do.

The point is, for the simple minded, America does not enforce it's existing laws and immigrants **** on it.

The thread is immigration 101. What is your personal experience with immigrants, especially in areas with high concentrations? Let's have some real feedback of the real world.

Not a wackadoodle response that is soon coming, "while i was getting my 9th university degree in Denver, I met a lovely dominican , while working in the University library, she needed help getting a book on the higher shelf, I told her about my 624 project and she really took an interest blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, , blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, , blah, blah, blah, ..... ad nauseam"

The issue of immigration or rather the various reactions towards it are as old as mankind (if I were a devote progressive I would be required to say humankind instead) .

It is indeed a primal instinct to be alert to strangers and question their motives and their affect on one's society. How people respond is another matter.

Perhaps some will recall that back in the 1980's the Governor ( ie government) in Oregon launched a campaign that essential said please come pay us a visit but then go home

Indeed some residents living in TV have the same philosophy.

The immigration problem in America is a result of an immigration policy that is predicated on only joining family. Our policy should be revised to accept only those immigrants that can fill a particular job/professional shortage and need and who are coming here with a job and hence will assimilate quickly .

All this talk of xenophobia, etc is spin meant to frustrate a rational immigration policy. Look at who makes these false claims and you can readily determine their self interests.

Personal Best Regards:

My PERSONAL experience is they destroy everywhere they go. Once beautiful and safe SMALL isolated communities being overrun with Hispanics, crime, assault, drunkenness, traffic accidents...ALL went up...as the outlying "Mexican towns" went up.

Schools that were once white and safe and successful are now full of stupid, violent minorities and going downhill fast. White students assaulted by minorities. White girls being FORCED into "hooking up" with minorities for fear of the racial retaliation of refusing a minorities advances. Yes, the minorities ALL gang up on the poor girl yelling "racist", "you're too good for a black boy?", pushing, shoving, they harass her until she relents. ASK your granddaughter who go to "diversified" schools how it REALLY is.

In my mind...just about everything has gotten worse and not better. We have more "toys", that the only improvement.

What a load of crap.

I supervised a woman law student from China while working at the U of MN Law Library named Joy for a year or more, had a Korean MD roommate for nine months named Dr. Kim who now teaches pharmacology at Yonsei U in Seoul, ate meals with various international students like two Spanish ladies from Bilbao along with some people from South America, had a best friend of an Iraqi Cataloging Librarian from the U of Mosul, Mahmood, while at the U of Denver and kept on a correspondence with him for two years, etc. Lived next to a group of South Americans in Belmont, CA while working for Information Access Company. Had a neighbor from Guam who was gay and had to fight off his advances. Also in Belmont.

You think I would talk about my 224 613 Project with someone was helping to find a book in a library? How colossally stupid! I do and have written immigrant groups though about what kind of practical information needs they have if they become survivors/victims of crimes that could be met by libraries.

Met Cesar Chavez while at the U of MN Law School who had very extensive experience with immigrants.

Met a survivor of one of the concentration camps from WWII. This was a few years ago in the Villages at the dog park. He used to give speeches at the Temple up the road from Southern Trace Shopping Center. He has a cute dog.

We don't NEED ANY immigrants...we're full. Even if you believe the unemployment rate is only 6%...that's STILL 6,000,000...6 million people unemployed. WHY would ANYONE want immigrants coming in to compete with those 6 million job seekers? ESPECIALLY the high level h1b positions. There ARE Americans who WILL do the work IF you pay them what it's worth instead of "slave wages".

Wanted to add that I did have a law student come to the reference desk while I was at the U of MN who wanted to look at our Indian Law collection which was in a sub basement. It had not really been cataloged all that well that I remember and you had to read these languages to find anything down there. So I had to take him down there and hope he did not want to steal anything from there as I had to get back to the reference desk.

The Indian collection was in Hindi, Bengali and some other languages used in India. The World Factbook — Central Intelligence Agency (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/in.html)

The U of MN Law Library is one of the largest in the US. Probably around 7th would be my guess. The sub basement did not really have any real security to speak of as I had had to unlock the room to show the Indian law student the collection and I could not just wait around while the law student worked down there on whatever extensive research he was doing. Some of the books in these collections are valuable so security is an issue.
