I am oh so proud of my niece and the dedication she has shown in her career. Just a couple years ago, she made the heart rendering decision to leave a 15 year career teaching in a great Catholic grade school she absolutely loved to join a suburban KC school district. She did it mainly for the bucks so she could send her son to a Jesuit high school. She was exceptional at Visitation, but seems to have become a real star in her new environs. I am so happy that dedication, love of learning, and really caring about the kids is recognized. :pepper2::2excited::coolsmiley:

you must be so proud. spent so many years teaching in the catholic schools, archdiocese of detroit. what a great place to teach. never considered going to public schools. staff and parents are what make catholic schools so special.yes the money would be more but I never considered.

And I have been blessed to know so many good ones. They are my hero's, saving the world, one child at a time!

I know you must be so proud Muncle. M'uncle.

It's so nice to see a good teacher story - unlike the one that was a headline in my local newspaper today...teacher runs a cash for grades scam in an area high school last year! Wishing your niece good luck in the national competition!

Muncle,

You are so rightfully proud. Best of luck to her.

Muncle,

You have every reason to be proud as can be. You called it a career. But, Munc, for teachers like your niece, it becomes clear that it is truly a calling.

And something tells me that her favorite uncle had a little something to do with her love of education. Let me just venture a little guess here. You always bought books for her, I'll bet. From the very beginning of her life. I'll just bet.

And so you should be!
Bravo for a job well done. She sounds like quite a woman.:eclipsee_gold_cup:
I thank the Good Lord for the good teachers I had along the way.
