We are from Mankato, where are you from? We are moving down permanent September 25th. In the process of packing right now. You will love TV. We have driven down many times, if you have any questions, just ask.

We're from Hugo, which is about 25 miles northeast of St. Paul. It will be our 1st time to Florida. We went to Texas last fall and now Florida. We're going twice this winter, once in Nov. to the Villages and further south in March to look around.

Wow! Never been to Florida. I can't wait to hear your reaction.
I wish you a warm welcome and we will be "at home" in November in the village of Hadley. You are invited to stop by!
Kindest wishes,
Gracie

My husband and I are second generation TVR's. We inherited a home in the Historic District. Will anyone be home at that time and might want to chat or have coffee or a cocktail???

We plan to be here Christmas and would love to meet, chat, cocktail, etc. We, too, moved here from Texas...albeit the other end. We came from Amarillo in 2004. Just PM me and welcome!

Hello all ye! I will be going to TV for the very first time for a visit. I'm checking things out to see if this is the place my husband and I will want to retire to. I'll be meeting my NC sister down there for 4 days or so and staying with a TV resident that we know. I'm majorly afraid of the heat, so, I just don't know. Will I EVER acclamate if we choose TV? I'll be there starting September 14th. Also, am thinking of staying for a couple of months in TV in the winter to see if this is REALLY the place to move to from Northern MN...you betcha'!

Hello Minnesotalynn and everyone else from Minnesota! We have lived in International Falls and are building a house in Amelia! Cannot WAIT to live there. Packing is a horrendous job, but, perhaps this will be the LAST move. Hooorah! Cannot wait to meet you all!

Hi Steve! You said you DROVE down many times? We will be driving down perhaps in December or January for the final move. I hope to get some advice as to which routes are the best to take????
If you want to pm me when you are ready to make driving plans, I would be glad to give you some directions. Just another idea, we drove a U-haul truck purchashed a GPS from Wal Mart for $108 and they are great. We now use it on our golf cart not just for directions, but it has an odometer and compasss which comes in very handy.
We are moved in and just starting to be able to enjoy some of the goodies in TV. By the way I had a great aunt that lived in Santa Barbara which we visited several times. Beautiful place.

Thank you Steve! Never thought of a GPS. Brilliant suggestion! The investment might be worth it because we will be learning how to get to places when we get to TV. I still have to figure how much "stuff" I'll be hauling and if a UHaul or a private company will be best. We do have a car and I'm wondering if dragging it on/behind a Uhaul in the middle of winter OR a private company would be best or which would be most economical. Wondering if I should consider using the relocation people at TV to help with that decision. We are so remote, that a Pod or Door to Door won't even come up here. Getting ready for garage sale at this time.

Of course it is hot in Florida at times. I think it also depends on what you are used to. Those from Minnesota will likely have a big adjustment at first. After awhile your body adjusts. Your blood thins (this is an actual medical truth) and you can get used to it. The heat is often secondary to all the positives of living in TV...and remember no snow. Susie:MOJE_whot:

Oh man oh man...I hope this thick blood thins out big time with this heat!

The biggest shock is getting out of an air conditioned car into the Florida heat. In July I drove down for a LSP. I drove all night and arrived about at 2:00 pm. I had been sitting in the air conditioned car for hours and it felt great until I opened the door. The 90+ temperature hit me like a ton of bricks. I though no way am I going to like this. Well that feeling lasted about a day and by that time I was somewhat use to the heat and humidity. I just planned my day and evening accordingly. By the end of the week it was not even noticeable but then again I was not jumping in and out of an air conditioned car and was using a cart. One will get use to the heat and all the other benefits of TV.
