Would like feedback on putting chatahootchee pebbles on my lanai. I have a pool there as well. Does it hold up? How often would I have to seal in a western exposure?
Thanks

We've had ours (I think it's actually called Chattahoochee River Rock) and love it. Even though the pebbles are coated with epoxy, there's room between them for water drainage, assuming it's correctly installed. We haven't noticed any fading, whitening, etc. even though it's a direct Western exposure. Apologies that I'm not in TV right now to look up our contractor's name, etc.
We were going to use CoolTech (like you'll see on the lanai ceilings and Premier homes with finished lanais) but our neighbor is constantly cleaning his because water puddles in every one of the low points.

It is also called Poly Pebble (or similar) and was used in south Florida for years.
It is considered somewhat obsolete down there, probably because of the maintenance involved and newer surfaces coming into availability and style.
If it is not maintained at least annually (depending upon exposure and foot traffic and movement of patio chairs and furniture), over time the pebbles come loose and you are left with holes.
Before resealing, it must also be cleaned to remove dust and other foreign particles. Your pool will be filthy.
We have had this surface and while water does seep through the pebbles, the maintenance was a pain in the neck to keep it in good condition.

We have the Chattahoochee river rock both on our enclosed lanai and our screened in front porch. It is easy to clean and we have not had any issues with it. We are very pleased. We have not had loose pebbles, holes, etc. While we may have to reseal at some point in the future, we do not have to worry about the surface being slippery, paint chipping, etc. If you search "Chattahoochee river rock' you will be able to find ample opinions. If you Google it, you will see many different colors and samples of what can be done with more than one color.

I had it in my home in SW Florida for 23 years! The original installation! I loved it and only replaced it when we were planning to sell the house because, as mentioned above, the "cool crete" look became more popular and gave the pool area an "updated" look. Had I been staying there, so would the river rock! The maintenance is minimal...once yearly. I pressure cleaned it (gently) and then resealed it. Maybe I was lucky, or maybe my diligence paid off, I never had to redo the epoxy, and I did not lose a bunch of stones. It does not make the pool a mess, if you are careful with your pressure cleaning, as I would be anyway. Yes, a little spray on the sliders, so what? The areas out under the cage were the most in need of heavier cleaning anyway, and you simply direct it away from the pool...no biggie. Make sure it is thoroughly dry, and reseal. Piece of cake. I did it every April, well before the rainy season. The only issue I had was a slight build up in one corner that didn't get good sun because of plants, and we drilled 2 holes through the cage bottom strip so the water could drain there. No problems. Get it!! :) hahaha
OH...I had the sun on the pool and back of the house all afternoon!! Kind of a drag coming in all the sliders, but yummy on the pool.

We have it on our lanai and have been very pleased. Ours does not get much sun so we have not had to do anything since it was installed.

Ours has been down for 9 yrs & we still love it & have not had any issues with loose pebbles. Wish I had access to my file to provide installers for you. Matt Alums is one and the other is a guy named Mike & I believe he has a vendor at the Market of Marion.
