FYI

Please google H3N2 canine influenza virus and read about the outbreak in Florida.

Inform yourselves and protect your pets ( cats can also get this

It might be a good idea to avoid contact with other dogs until your pet is vaccinated...please refer to your Vet for guidance.

We read about this the day before we kenneled our 7 year old dog. She has had all the usual vaccines, but not this. No time to get the vaccine before we left, and I'm worried she might catch it in the kennel. We definitely don't want to take her to the dog park until she's had her shot! I called to schedule the vaccine as soon as we get back.

When I called our vet's office regarding getting our dogs vaccinated,
I asked if I really needed an appointment for the shot or could a tech simply give it.

I was informed that yes -- a tech could give it but coming in for the shot would be two weeks out.
What? Two weeks out? Something's wrong with this picture.

Why can a person just "stop in" a Walgreen's or equivalent, and get a fly shot? What's the big deal to get this shot???
Not happy!
