I don't consider myself an ultra clean freak, but I would feel much better if the toilets and sinks were motion activated and the door out always swung out. The less I need to touch the better. This would substantially reduce any transfer of well, whatever! Not that the bathrooms are in bad condition, but it forces me to take extra steps (paper towels to open the door) to make it all work. What's the sense of washing your hands (which not everybody does) if the door handle is nasty. This never used to bother me, but the older I get............................................... .................just sayin.

It bothers me and always has, all exits should be push so you can use your shoulder. While on the topic another thing that bugs me are urinals without splash guards. In my younger years i belonged to an athletic club. I was using a urinal and wearing gym shorts, up comes a guy and all of a sudden my leg gets splashed. Haven't used a urinal without a splash guard since. I could go on but it gets more disgusting.

Reasons why outside doors open inward

Easier for the rescue services to smash in if there's a fire etc...
it's easier to waterproof the door due to the gaps being covered from the outside.
So you don't smash into the person trying to get in.
As the snow builds up outside, it won't be blocked.
It can be more secure as the hinges are not on the outside.
Allows a storm/screen door to be installed as well.
If they opened outwards it would be too easy to put some obstacle in place to stop you opening the door from the inside.
Lady Lake police sobriety test.

Well, I'm almost 66 and I'm still here. Guess I don't have to spend time worrying about this one. :D

I didn't realize that the Public Restrooms or as you call Bathrooms had the facilities to take a Bath..or Shower..

I have always thought of the Public Restrooms @the Squares as Restrooms...where are the " Bathrooms " located ?

Bogie. You are such a bright fellow.

Bonnie I agree.

I've been told;
A little healthy challenge to your immune system is good for most unless your immune system is weakened or you are taking chemo that makes it less able to defend your body.

Say what you want restroom/bathroom, whatever. Clean is clean. By the way this was a suggestion. Later

In my opinion the motion activated sink faucets that are in use at Red Lobster and Walmart and Sam's Club are the worse invention I've ever seen. The Red Lobster setup provides such a light stream of water, it's almost impossible to get your hands wet. The Walmart/Sam's Club sinks make me feel like cattle, and you have put your hands underneath and so close to the basin that's it impossible to even rub your hands together.

One reason most of the responses to your original post was your term 'Downtown', are you referring to the squares? That is what we call them here. Even if they are the squares, you're not exactly pinpointing the area of your complaint. If it's LSL, then I usually use the restroom at the movie theater or the sales office. I find no problem with either. If you're referring to BW, then you mean the restroom next to the movie theater. My personal complaint about that place is the high pressure hand air dryers. The sound that they make is almost deftening and I wish they had paper towels. I can't remember the sinks, but I think they have faucets. What you might want to start doing is to carry disposable painters gloves, just put a packet in your back pocket. Each time after leaving the restroom you throw them away. Since your hands are never exposed to any germs, they won't need washing.

One of my early attempts at painting was this picture of the public restrooms at LSL with poetic license taken.

If I have to carry painter gloves to use the "lou" I'll just wait, thank you. P.S. Those gloves are good to use when you pump diesel fuel into your auto.

While I've never been in any of the squares women's restrooms, I understand that they are beautiful. I've been told they have a sauna, masseuses, clothing shops and hairdressers. Explains why they take so long in there.

I heard they even have Trader Joe stores. (Never been in one, so I don't know.)
