If you want to check out the new "village", pack a lunch, take extra water, maybe a port-a-potty. A map and/or google maps won't do you any good as this is uncharted territory. After you have passed many covered wagons with The Villages logo (that is not a good sign- that many families abandoned their wagons after they wandered for 40 days looking for it) and just when you think that you are close to Orlando, there it is on the left. Don't blink. If you exit and go left instead of the way you went in, you will come out way down south on 301. Might as well goon to Orlando from there. Good luck.

I know. It's a joke. Isolated, desolate, dark roads, outside area not good. Good road for car jacking. Was not impressed with area or prices

468 is 4 lanes 45 MPH except in the construction area that is changing to 4 lanes, no stop signs or stop lights how do you figure it's a good road for car jacking. It won't be long before Buena Vista ends on 468, 301 and 501 are already staked for 4 lanes. When those projects are completed, and they complete them fast, Fenny will have easy access from anywhere. Most of the crime that I read about is up north in the old Villages area. I think you're either a little paranoid or jealous of what is soon to be. Why are you so negative, you're not going to stop the progress or the fast pace at which these homes are being sold. It's the future of The Villages.

You don't have to defend your choice of village to anybody.
Fenny will end up just as good as any other part of The Villages.

Not paranoid , just realistic. Drive out there in the dark and if you still don't get it, don't know what to tell U. Prison nearby also. Isolated, desolate. Wouldn't move there if they gave me house free. Love Sumter area so no jealousy issues. Can't imagine people having a few drinks at brown wood, then heading back on that long dark road. Ask 98% of villagers. They All say too far

I remember some thought the same when we looked at house south of 466a. Too far what are you thinking, yet people live there and houses sold. I think there is a village for all. Our oldest is looking at Fenney. He wants the quiet, out of the way, semi remote living. Yet just a few miles away is the craziness of TV. Fenney will be different than other villages, some people prefer that. Since its not my money I have no reason to tell anyoe its too far. I am just glad those that buy there are finding a home they love just like all of us.

Some folks like to live in the middle of busy, high density areas. Others not so much. They may prefer to be removed from hustle and bustle. A few may be off their meds or need meds...

This has to rank as one of the funniest, most inaccurate posts I've read on this site. We get it, you don't like Fenney. Thanks for the morning laugh.

Isn't this what people said about construction south of 466 15 years ago or 466A 5 years ago??????

Fenny will soon not be isolated. No "dark roads" A square will be built as close to them as the squares are to the rest of The Villages. Every day for the next 19 years ten thousand Boomers a day are retiring. Why shouldn't they want to buy here. We all are smart folks and we did.

Florida is the third most populous state in the U.S. now. After California and Texas.

When we moved into our home which is just off 466 many people said...why would they want to move there, right close to all of that traffic? I have heard negatives about this village and that, but I betcha back where we all came from, no matter WHAT we paid for home that the climate and the mix of hard working people who made it to buy a home here were not as wonderful.

Fenney (Or is it spelled Fenny) people will be smilin'.
The developer priced the homes a little lower because it was a bit separated. But not for long. Smart folks to buy there.

Keep 'em comin' Morse family. Try to weed out the terrible drivers, but other than that, I am good.

Give it 5 years, no isolation, no desolation, a new square, traffic light. The Morse family is not dumb.

Next week everyone will get to see the Rec Center with zero entry pool, the bar and grill, cafe, sales office, be introduced to the many amenities Fenney now has and will soon have. The first adult pool is complete and within that area is a pavilion with picnic tables, outdoor exercise equipment, pickle ball, etc. There is quite a bit ready to go down here and much more in the works. It's going to be fun just watching it grow, there are noticeable changes every day. The surrounding roadways are all being widened to four lanes, Buena Vista will be connecting and it will be easy access from everywhere. I don't know much about the golf car access but I do know the tunnels and crossing are in the works, Buena Vista will have a bridge over the turnpike so I would assume there will be a golf car lane running along the side. I'm sure that this area was well thought out before the first shovel hit the ground, it will be just fine down here.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Fenney for myself when I come back to TV for a visit in September. I'm sure Fenney is as beautiful as the rest of The Villages is, and the new residents of Fenney are excited about their new homes. Happy setting in to all you Fenneyites/Fenneyers.

I agree. And it's ridiculous to think that a community of 120,000 seniors spread over 32 square miles travelling in golf carts both day and night could possibly be a target. Oh, wait, this is one of the safest zip codes in the country.

It isn't paranoia IF they REALLY are out to get you, but in this case, it's just paranoia.

The best pro side of the Feeney discussion has been some people like the isolationism. Well if that's' the best the pro side has to offer I give you this - if you cherish the peace and solitude of this lovely Village why would you want to buy a house with kissing lanai's in the Mohave dessert?

What in the World are you talking about?? We have Nothing to be jealous of as we are near Sumter and love it! When people give their take on a subject , such as I did, on the distance and safety concern, it doesn't mean it's Negative. It means We don't want to live so far from activities as we are very active and for me personally safety Is a concern. Stop trying to make everything negative. For those who want solitude, it might be their cup of tea. Get over it. If u ask the majority of villagers, they don't like the distance away. Maybe u don't get out enough, to talk to other villagers. Are they getting their own square as ours are crowded enough??? Maybe you don't go to them often enough to realize that. Also if u get out enough to talk to villagers, you would also hear they want the building to stop. My goodness, let people voice their opinions. Just because it's different then yours , doesn't mean it won't help someone else!

A WHOLE BUNCH OF People are going to be moving to Florida and none of us should be surprised if they want to move here. I bet you five dollars Hula that the area will be built in between Brownwood and Fenny in three years. Personally, I love where we live on 466 but had to suffer a lot of insulting conversation about how dumb we were to buy in that village right on that noisy road.

Is Fenny getting their own square? Fenny itself as a now isolated area most likely is not, but if there is enough population to warrant commercial real estate leasing, one will be built, I'd venture to guess. This isn't their first rodeo.

Many of us drive to Ocala for dinner and take the "back roads" back home in the dark and return home from the beach late too, I think your fears of all those dark roads are silly.

I don't think my opinion matches the majority of villagers anymore than yours except for my politics.

People are going to continue to move here and continue to think that their street, their neighborhood, their village, their age group are the best. Somebody is going to move near us, adjacent to us, close to The Villages. I would just as soon it be run well, so I think it is a plus if it is part of The Villages instead of some slick eddie builder.

So.............Do you dance the Hula or do Hula Hoops? Just wondering.

Hula. You may not be aware, we heard from Mark Morse's mouth at the "State of The Villages" evening at the Sharon, that that very afternoon they had contracted for the last bit of property that would tie Fenny to the rest of The Villages and that cart paths would be built from Fenny to the existing Villages.

I had never gone to the State of The Villages, and you have to get up early to get a ticket. Sweetie got us front row. That is us and Mark Morse. Aren't we running with the big dogs?

Gracie. It's like this. If I'm hiring a contractor (which we are in process of doing now) and I ask villagers for their opinions Based on their experience, sure I want to hear the good. But I also need to hear from those who had Bad experiences as it will Help us in making our decision. I do not want to hear only One point of view. How foolish that would be and naive. I don't like the Bashing on this site when your opinion is different then another's. It's fine with me if driving on the desolate roads doesn't bother you. That's your right and opinion. Based on my past career, I have seen and experienced more than many others so I base my opinions over a lifetime of experiences. PS. I hula hoop among a million other activities and love them all
