Ceramic Tile/Sealing Grout

Hi - we have a beautiful new home with white to beige ceramic tile everywhere except the bathrooms. We heard not to seal the grout for a year or the warranty is void. We are concerned with the grout getting during this first year with just basic life issues, dirt, dogs, etc.

Has anyone sealed their grout before a year? Will it void the warranty? Any suggestions or experiences?

I recomend sealing it with a good quality product-$35. plus. don't cheap out not worth it!

I don't understand what it is about sealing grout that voids the warranty. Does it mean that if a tile cracks they will not replace it because the grout is sealed?

I was told by the tile installer to wait 2 weeks before sealing to allow the grout to cure.

Does all grout get sealed? I just had ceramic? tiles installed in kitchen and when I asked the installer if the grout would need to be sealed, he just said no, with no explanation.

The grout should be sealed to prevent it from getting stained and not able to be cleaned. Without sealing oils will get into the grout and it will appear dirty no matter how much you clean it.

My backsplash is done with epoxy grout. Does not need to be sealed, and looks as good as the day it was installed.

Thanks for that info about epoxy grout I will look into that when we tile the lanai.
