She started in Ann Arbor and will be here next week, 950 miles in so far! Watch for her, she might be on the MMP.

Is she calling a motorcycle a bike? I bicycle can do 100 miles per day but doing it for 20 days-it is like 2,000 miles from Michigan to Florida that is a real feat

I just looked on a map and the one good thing she has going for her...is that it's downhill all of the way. :D

Seriously though, that's quite an adventure...and here's wishing her a safe trip. :BigApplause:

The most she traveled in one day is 85 miles. Unlike a car she will stop for a few days if she is weary or wet from heavy rain.

She has visited a few friends so it is not a direct trip.

From a Law Enforcement standpoint, please tell her to stay safe. There are some real crazies out there today.

I agree and I think she is a bit nuts for doing this. As you know you can't tell your kids much after 13 or so. That said her risk is probably greater being hit by a vehicle.

I think a gray hound ticket is like $99

How old is she? I assume she's more than 14.

Is she biking alone?

Yup. Just what I thought. She's nuts!

Not the most direct route! :). Hopes she has a safe ride the last few miles!

I think she is brave to bicycle that distance. You must be worried.
It's a dangerous trip and not everyone likes bicyclists.
I wish her clear sailing!

Just let her know about the roundabouts and the like in The Villages. It will be the hardest part of the trip. Bravo. Life's for living. Wish I had the guts to do something like that when I was younger instead of working all the time.

Yes I am proud of her, it is more risk than I would take. The Bike club (those that are interested) will be joining her for the last few miles as she comes in.:BigApplause:

I congratulate you and your wife on raising such a strong woman and giving her the confidence to do what she wants with her life. No doubt she will achieve much and make you even more proud than you are today!

Daytona Beach bound!

Thank you for the post, it is rare for someone to see beyond themselves! It is a true measure of a quality person.

Is she raising money for something while doing this? Did not catch that?

Excellent that your daughter is being welcomed by the Bike Club.
Your daughter is special, she has the courage of her convictions. She is obviously determined and highly motivated.
Please let us know when she has arrived safely.

Amazing story. Someone from the Daily Sun should interview your daughter about her experiences on this trip.

She sent me a pic from the beach today, she looked fit!

No money raised, just doing this for the challenge.

Hooray for her! We drive from Michigan and find that challenging enough. What an amazing young woman, you should be very proud. She's not biking back, I hope!

I seem to recall in the NYC marathon there was an unexpected winner. Later it was discovered that she had taken a bus.

Still quite an adventure. I believe the fla buses have a carrier for bicycles.

My OLD butt is good for less than 20 miles on a good day.
Followed by a nap.

She arrived at noon in LSL. To answer some questions; she did this by herself and spent the majority of the nights camping. She told me one the greatest challenges was loneliness. This is her first trip to TV and is impressed by the great lifestyle that we all have here!

1,204 miles. The story will be in The Sun on Tuesday and on channel 2 tonight.

The Villages bike club did not come out to meet her since she did not arrive on a day that they were scheduled to meet.

Maybe the reporter at the Sun can hook her with Scott Duncan. He's a full time Villager and the husband of my yoga instructor at MVP. They might have some stories to swap. Scott rode his bike across the US from East to West, North Carolina to California last fall. I believe he's in his 60's but he spent his nights in a motel instead of outdoors. I mention the newspaper because they did a photo story on him after his return.

Congratulations to your daughter! What a long ride! But the camping out most nights is a whole 'nother story. Not easy to go through and ride each day.

One would think that a few bikers could have made the effort to acknowledge her achievement - pity!

I cannot imagine riding a bike all the way from MI to TV! We were driving home to MI about the time that she was riding into TV and compared my sore butt sitting in a car seat to her's on a bike seat for many more days than our trip. That's so crazy but I bet you are just glad to have her arrive safely Toymeister! Hopefully she is taking a bus home

She might bike to Michigan or take mass transit, she hasn't decided yet. She needs new tires either way.
