I recently was reading a thread on the use of our pickleball courts and noted some AWFUL posts -- IMO, the worst ones offered by our so-called "Sages". So, I ask what the heck is a TOTV Sage??? I offer the correct definition:

1.famed for wisdom. 2. someone venerated for the possession of wisdom, judgment, and experience. ... wise, judicious, or prudent: sage advice.

The advice given concerning our facilies was:

1. Sneak on and use our courts.

2. Sumter county (all of us taxpayers) should build lighted courts outside The Villages to be used primarily by Expert Pickleball players...

Are these Sages kidding??? I propose stripping their sage status.....

You would have to ask the TOTV admin, because they are the ones who name the categories. I believe it has to do with how many posts you have, not how wise they were.

OP : My observation formed after many years of following this site is that a " Sage " is anyone who hails from the Northeast Coast Mega-glopolis --- From Boston , thru NYCity and environs including the home of those most polite , intelligent and considerate folks from New Joisey , those very polite folks from Philly and the Elites from the Baltimore Washington corridor .
These extremely polite and genteel folk really deserve to have their own Villages and Squares where they can share exclusively with one another the unique joy they bring to all any place they take up control by the gift of their presence .

I offer the following definitions:
1) someone who recognizes sarcasm
2) someone who knows when they are being virtually poked
3) someone who knows how to take a joke.

Often those that know nothing speak often. Some sage members have tens of thousands of posts but have never contributed anything worthwhile. Others like tinker give great information in almost every post.

I propose we petition the omnipresent moderators of TOTV to replace the "Sage" moniker to the more apropos, "Curmudgeon."

Speaking as a sage, anyone who is a sage is spending way too much time on the computer. :Screen_of_Death:

I am classed as a Veteran which, in relation to cars, means "made before 1919".

I think I'd rather be a Sage, so I had better keep posting.

That's very true Barefoot. Especially for us posters with a couple of ten thousand posts.

Having misspent most of my youth growing up in the the Southwestern US when I hear the word "sage" I think "sagebrush". Of course sagebrush is an aggressive, resilient, tenacious plant that thrives under difficult conditions other plants cannot survive. It has a strong smell as well.

What's the difference between a "sage" and a "soaring eagle"? In your case, 372 posts. Who cares????????
I'm with the "slow news day" camp.:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Please do not lump Baltimore with NY and Boston, we are below the Mason/Dixon Line and nickname is "Charm City" and our favorite food is Crabs not Lobster.
