Just wondering if anyone else has a 3D printer...
My first 3D Printer arrived last week, and I have enjoyed it so far.
I am mostly making parts to improve the 3D Printer performace/use.
I suspect that there are others in TV "playing" around with a 3D Printer.

Check out the Connected Villagers club which meets on Mondays at Eisenhower. They have had presentations on 3d printing and I am sure they can help you.

HI,

I too have a 3D printer - a Lulzbot Mini. Great printer. We are trying to form a new group that includes 3D printing. As details are finalized I'll put them up here.

Regards,
Joe

Thanks for the info on the Maker Fair.
I have a Creality CR-10. I got it to just keep up with technology.

It would be nice to have a maker group. 3D printing, Laser cutters and CNCs etc.

I'm wondering what 3D software package(s) you folks that have 3D printers are using to make your own models. I taught engineering CAD courses that incorporated 3D printers...we used the CAD programs SolidWorks and ProEngineer (now caled CREO). There are a couple of freeware CAD programs available which have the capablity to create STL files that can then be used by 3D printers.

I would also be interested in joining a group if one is formed.

I use Autodesk Fusion 360, and CURA for slicing, and OctoPI for interfacing with 3D printer (Creality CR-10)

Hi Joe,
Is there a local place to get some PLA, or spare parts?

What's the Cura question? I'm now using Cura 2.7.0

I purchased this item on eBay over a year ago for $10, it assists in loading of rifle magazines. Otherwise you will wear out your fingers pushing down on the tabs that are spring loaded to keep the rounds at the top. The seller said he made it on a 3D printer and he has sold a lot of them.

Sorry Pete, I just saw this. I order from Maker Geeks and Amazon and of course from the Lulzbot people who built my printer.

Hands On Tech will have the organizational meeting on Thursday, October 5th at 6:30 PM in Rohan Rec Center. This group will cover 3D printing as well as small computers (raspberry pi, arduino, etc) robotics, and drones to start. Hope to see you there.
