Does anyone have an opinion about which is better for prescription drugs? I'm thinking of switching from Walgreens to Publix because of the long lines at Walgreens. To me, cost is not my primary factor.

I switched from Publix to Walgreens for that very reason. Publix at Southern Trace is MUCH quicker than the one at Spanish Springs, though.

If you haven't already, you might want to check and see if Publix is a preferred pharmacy on your plan. If not you may be financially penalized for using them.

I really like the pharmacy at Southern Trace Publix. Their pharmacists, Judy and Brad, are always available for consult and both are such nice people.

One of the best things for us is we got switched from Walgreens to CVS and then found out about Publix. Another benefit of living here. Publix Pharmacy. The employees are mostly former CVS & Walgreens employees and understand the shortcoming of those stores and make an effort to be better than where they came from. Publix treats us like family, the good kind of family, we love them. They are not fast they are polite, accurate and competitively priced. :bigbow:

We switched from Publix (Grand Traverse) to Walgreens (Pinellas) because Publix was frequently out of various drugs, even common ones.
Walgreens is fine, we mostly use the drive-up window.

I get my routine prescriptions through mail order from Express Scripts. However, on occasion I've had to get something quickly and found The Medicine Chest to be much better than Publix, CVS or Walgreen. The Medicine Chest is more like a small town pharmacy where they take the time to find you lower cost generics and the pharmacist is very accessible should you have any questions. They are in Lake Sumter and Brownwood squares.

My story exactly. Conveniently, The Medicine Chest in Lake Sumter is right by my PCP's office and 5 minutes from my house. They're very nice people too. Just be aware that they are only open 9 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

I'm completely satisfied with the speed of service at Walgreens. I normally use Parr Drive.

I only get initial prescriptions filled at Walgreens. For refills I go online on the Walgreens site and request mail for a refill. I do it about 10 days before I'm out and they are delivered to me. shipping is free and I'm spared the long lines at Walgreens.

I regular scripts get filled through Express Scripts. We used to get others filled at Walgreens. They have stopped taking TriCare so we switched to CVS. Never have any problems.

Medicine Chest at Brownwood has closed. They stopped having a Pharmacist at this location about 10 months ago and now are completely closed.

My wife and I used to get our RX filled at CVS but became tired of the long waits so decided to try Publix at Southern Trace, what a difference, friendly helpful staff, often lower cost and minimal wait times. Highly recommended .

I switched from Publix to Walgreens (I had used Publix in another city and was happy with their service). However, the service at Publix at Colony Cottage was always a problem for me: 1) wrong medication; 2) discontinued meds continued to be filled; 3) the synchronization of drugs was a joke (never, never, were my drugs synchronized); 4) excuse, after excuse, about how busy they were; 5) and worst of all was that my prescriptions were never filled when promised so I ended up coming back for pick up, sometimes up to three times. No time saver for sure. I even discussed the ongoing problems with the manager, and while sympathetic and very aware of the problems, nothing changed in the pharmacy. I'm not giving an opinion, rather simply conveying my experience with Colony Cottage's Publix Pharmacy.

You know if you drop a prescription off or pick up a prescription go thru the drive thru, you want have to wait 15 or 20 mins. inside. You know they won't let you wait outside because they would have people really P.O'd. Outside the longest I've ever waited has been 5 mins. & that's when I was the 4th car in line. Just my suggestion!

I really appreciate the service you get at Publix and in some cases, i found their pricing better than the other big chains. They really emphasize fast, friendly service. They're always available to answer any questions you have regarding medications.

I switched from CVS to Publix Pharmacy after finding that Publix is a preferred pharmacy on my prescription drug plan, and I am very happy with the Publix pharmacy. I would probably have switched anyway, as I was tired of the long lines and wait time at CVS.
I went to Walgreens once and could hardly find the pharmacy ... it gave me the impression of being more like a junk store that decided to add a pharmacy back in the far corner.

I use Publix at Colony and Mr 07 uses Walgreens at Colony. He always has long waits and screw ups (his meds are more complicated). I have had nothing but fast, efficient service at Publix. I generally go early or late in the day to avoid mid day peak crowds.

We use Walgreen at 441 and Rolling Acre. Wonderful pharmacists. And if you travel to different parts of the country you can usually find a Walgreen, not so with Publix.
Never wait at Walgreen, order refill online, get a text when it's ready, drive thru, pick it up. Easy to get refills when in different part of country.

When we moved here 8 yrs ago we got our RX's (all of them) from Walgreens at Colony. The waits back then were minimal and the clerks even knew me by name when I came. It's changed now...WAYYYY busy and a wait-line most times. Our ins. changed and we have TVH so now we get our meds shipped to us from OptumRX and it's pretty seamless. I get a reminder both online and via phone-calls when I need to refill again. Only time I'd go to Walgreen's is "IF" I needed the item that day!! I guess you have to do your 'home-work' and decide what's best for you. I didn't know about the mailing feature that Walgreens has...that is something to consider.

Walgreens pharmacy at Pinnelas Plaza is the best retail pharmacy I have ever used. The pharmacists and staff are awesome! For example, their customer service is exhibited by their willingness to patiently answer questions, do research on medications and possible side affects, and make phone calls to Medicare and other insurances to secure the best price for medications. I have been and continue to be very satisfied with this pharmacy and most often find only to one to three people in line when I have used their services. Their knowledge and courtesy makes standing in line worth it to me.
