I have a 6 year old Speed Queen washer and dryer and no complaints. No fancy digital settings, etc., just basic dials to select water temp, load size, and fabric. When the service man was here installing, he commented that he didn't get to see many of them after the install because they had few problems. So far, he's been right.

We have had Speed Queen in the laundry room for a couple of years.
At the time we bought, there was a choice of electronic dials or plain knobs. But that was the only choice to make. I picked the electronic.
Other than that, it is a basic, well-built machine. Nothing fancy. Top Load. Agitator. Nice stainless tub.
The only thing that I find not to like so much is that I wish the spin cycle would spin the clothes a little longer. But if I want more spin, I can hit a spin-only cycle for 7 minutes more -- or shorter by pausing the cycle before 7. (The laundry room is close to the living area of the house so pushing that button is no big deal. And besides, it might just be me because, in a different house, I had an Electrolux front loader than spun things really dry.)
It is also a bit of a thrill to have a washer that I actually can fill with water, if I want to, gallons even......Does that make me a bad person?
Speed Queen is headquartered in Wisconsin. I am pretty sure they make machines for laundromats, too.
I like Speed Queen. It is nice to have a simple machine that I am hoping does not have the built in obsolescence that so many appliances now have.

Neither Lowes nor Home Depot sell Speed Queen so where did you locally purchase your machine?

Great, thanks. I am thinking of getting one since the Whirlpool I now have is badly rusted and have been reading that this is a common problem with the popular brands.

The Speed Queen I was talking about in the earlier post is not in the house in TV. That house still has the original washer and dryer.
Our northern Speed Queen came from a Mom and Pop.
Here is a link to the Speed Queen site. If you click on "Where to Buy" and put in your zip code, you will see a list of stores in the area near TV.

New Speed Queens can be seen and purchased at Desantis Air Condition / Appliance near the bridge in Wildwood.

Thanks everyone. I received my new Speed Queen Tuesday from DeSantis and was very pleased with everything. The washer is very solidly built, not fancy but works well. DeSantis was wonderful. They only sell Speed Queens and I was very happy with their price and delivery service.

We had a MAYTAG that came USED with our previous house.
It was ??????? 7-8 years old when we got it and it was till working when we sold the house 40 years latter.
We left it for the new buyers, FREE with no warranty. So in round numbers it ONLY lasted for 50 years. There was one repair an issue with the timer. I go a quote for the price of a new timer and it was like $100. I cleaned the contacts muttered some swear words and it was up and running again.
Today with all the electronic wizbangs even swearing, no matter what your level of expertise is works.

Things have changed. I googled extensively and found that none of the major brands go the distance anymore. The Whirlpool I replaced was only 4 years old and the lid was completely rusted and I did not feel it cleaned well. Speed Queen makes all of the washing machines for laundromats and their home machines are identical except for the coin slots. They are very old fashioned but I think they work well and they are supposed to last. Time will tell.

the you finish using any washer leave it open and give it a chance to dry and ventilate all the internal moisture
