Will be spending a few days vacations in Wash DC. Have set up tours for Bureau of Engraving, Capital Tour, White House Tour.

Also, plan on going to the Spy Museum and Smithsonian.

Have been to Arlington and national monuments on past trips.

Any other suggestions on interesting things to see or places to go.

There are so many things to see and do. Depending on your interests, I would see the war memorials, the US Supreme Court Building and the Library of Congress . Georgetown is a lovely section of DC. I spent 4 years in Wash DC in undergraduate school and still feel like I have only seen a small percentage of what Wash DC has to offer. Enjoy your vacation. If you belong to AAA, you could get their Tourbook for DC, review what they recommend seeing, look at the descriptions and see what matches up with your interests.

The Smithsonian covers several different museums and buildings including the National Zoo.

The Natural History Museum, The Air and Space Museum and the Zoo are the most popular. I would also include the Air and Space Annex by Dulles Airport. That definitely is worth seeing.

Take the Metro! It has stops at almost all of the major attractions. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people walking from one spot to another just exhausted when the could have taken the Metro one or two stops. If you miss your stop usually you can take the escalator to street level and see something else you have always heard of.

I use to live in Washington, DC and have a few ideas of interesting things to do. Besides the national monuments, memorials, and museums, I suggest you take a few hours and walk around the historic Georgetown area (nice boutiques and restaurants and historic homes). I would also take a drive around Embassy Row between Massachusetts Avenue, NW and Scott Circle (many beautiful grand mansions and embassies). And, I would definitely take a short drive to Alexandria, VA...a beautiful historic oldtown and take a walk down King Street and the Waterfront. King Street has many nice boutiques and restaurants (lots of seafood restaurants) and try the "She Crab Soup" that the south in famous for (absolutely delicious). At the waterfront, you can arrange to take a Potomac Riverboat. The beautiful historic brick townhomes in Georgetown and Alexandria are much larger than they appear from the outside and usually have large courtyard with beautiful gardens in the back. I think it is possible to take a tour of some of the homes in Alexandria. And, if you have time to take a longer drive, George Washington's Mt. Vernon (abt. 15 miles south of Washington and Thomas Jefferson's homesteads (abt. 2 1/2 hours South) are very interesting. I would google "things to do in Washington" "things to do in Georgetown" "things to do in Alexandria" "tours of homes in Alexandria" "Potomac Riverboat" "Embassy Row in Washington" and "Mt. Vernon", etc. You won't have time to do everything, but if you done the monuments and museums, these are the things that I would suggest.

This list alone is more than you can see in "a few days."

Of the things that others have listed, I would endorse going to Mt. Vernon, and if you had time to travel that far, Monticello.

I found Monticello particularly interesting because of the artifacts displayed from the Lewis & Clark expedition, including one of the diaries.

Enjoy your trip.

Don't miss the Korean War memorial. Go after dark. It is dramatic and haunting.

We were there in a heavy rain with a lot of Japanese tourists with umbrellas who were too short for the most part for us to share their umbrellas. There were a few taller ones but this was a big group. We got soaked.

I could spent a few months looking over the various Smithsonian museums.

The poster meant "She Crab Soup". It is a delicious creamy crab soup served with lump crab meat on top and a little bit of crab roe.

My typo mistake...but depending on what restaurant you have the soup, it could be "She Crap Soup", instead of the delicious "She Crab soup"!
