I just read this and it made me so sad. Feherty is a favorite of mine and I almost feel like I know him. He has said that he himself has suffered from substance abuse and mental illness issues are in his family.
I just wish there was something that each of us or all of us could do to battle this horrible avalanche of drug abuse and death.

It is sad when anyone loses a child. My thoughts and prayers go out the the Feherty family.

In recovery himself, I wonder why he didn't see the signs of his son's abuse. I think there is more to come on this story.

It's getting worse every year..Just look around and in our bubble
I have no tolerance for drug dealers, sexual predators, thieves, gang leaders and members...sorry prison doesn't work.

I'm sure glad you don't live in this great country, where he have the rule of law...and due process.

You are never going to change human nature or the fact some of us have less control then others. The " holier then thou crowd " needs to go suck a few lemons. Legalize the crap and dispense it under government control with rehab offered next door. Make employment and being a useful citizen part of the equation. If anyone has not noticed, this is not a battle we are not winning, nor one which will ever be won if we continue with the current approach. We need a rethink on the part of society and the politicians.

So sad to hear this about a member of the Feherty family; I understand it was his sons birthday also. David is a very funny guy and his quips always bring out a lighter side of the staid world of network golf.
The deaths from overdoses in America is escalating at a horrible pace. It's happening to rich, poor, all races, moms, dads, kids - everyone and it looks like there is no quick fix solution to this epidemic.

While I could possibly understand those who are in great physical/emotional pain and have no chance of recovery, any other suicide or massive overdoses leading to suicide...I don't think I could ever really understand.
Then again, just because I can't imagine the massive and constant internal pain from those who look OK on the outside, certainly doesn't mean that the internal pain doesn't exist...or that I'm qualified to judge the actions they feel they have no choice to make. :(
Here's hoping that great strides are soon made to help identify those who look OK on the outside...but are on the edge on the inside.
For both them...and the loved ones they leave behind. :ohdear:

Agree with you on that!
