Why do I love living in The villages??? I wake up early on a Sunday morning and I have beautiful visitors greeting me at dawn around the pond. Attached is a link of the pictures in my album so you all can enjoy it too. As the day progressed, many more egrets joined the group and it became a fantasy land of beautiful white birds. The funny thing is, they are all huddling now under the shade of the palm trees, completely outlining the shade. If I get too close, they will fly away so you'll have to take my word for it....

Kathie, you need to go out NOW and get yourself a ghillie suit so you can sneak up on those egrets and get us the pictures. I think this one would work well in Florida:

Julie, they're backkkk. I couldn't find my suit but trust me they are beautiful. When you get here, we'll sit on my lanai and watch them. They are all in a row, as we speak, following the outline of the shade from the trees. I guess they don't like the sun? What are they doing in FL????

Snowy, great white and common egrets can all be found in Florida. They like the marshy conditions. I couldn't tell what kind they were in your lovely photographs but, here are some generalizations to assist you with being able to identify them:

Snowy - Black bill with yellow feet
Common - yellow bill, black feet, 37"-41" in height
Great - yellow bill, black feet, taller than 48"
