I will have to do some research on this movie.

Really like Halle Berry in just about anything. Kidnap (2017) - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/kidnap_2017/)

Been watching her movies carefully since 2003's Gothika.

If you really like the film, you should go to IMDB.com and vote. It only has a 6.0 rating from 6500 voters so far. Generally anything under a 7.0 is not going to do well at the theater. Here's a typical review;

"Wherever you go I will be right behind you."

After "The Call" it appears someone thought Halle Berry could handle another thriller on her own. Possibly herself. This one woman show and basic car chase movie has some merit, but some assumptions seem confusing.

After about the tenth car involved in various crashes, even with applying the usual assumed suspension of belief when watching this type of movie, I found myself asking where the police were. This was seemingly brushed off with the premise that America's state troopers are severely incompetent. Portrayed as slow to react, unperceptive, and eventually making a false arrest. And so Berry's chase is left alone. In fact the writer or director's view of cops as incompetent is further confirmed by the believably bizarre sheriff's office scene. It does of course require the absence of police in order for the chase or film to work.

Fans of Halle Berry's established look will probably be disappointed as here she looks quite different. In fact she at times looks like a Bangladeshi, and at times an Australian Aboriginal, but rarely the Halle Berry of previous movies.

Despite the basic story, this succeeds in creating tension, although much of these moments seemed just very frustrating. Perhaps these frustrating sequences were simply realistic reactions of a lone mother trying to rescue her son.

It's definitely not the worst chase movie, nor the best, it's just OK. 5 out of 10 Stars

I had forgotten about The Call, so after reading this review I went and checked my IMDB rating and I had given it a 6.0, that was in the average score range since the average was 6.7 from 96,000 voters.

I just read the film was originally scheduled for relase July 2015, two whole years ago. The problem, the film's distributor Relativity filed for bankruptcy.

The company emerged from bankruptcy and the film was scheduled again for May of 2016, and then December 2016. The company has been on shaky ground because they are millions in debt. However a Singapore company has infused Relativity with money, which explains why now all the money for TV advertising.
