As I am now retired I decided to take up golf. It has been close to 30 years since I played.(maybe 5-6 times only)
I have a couple sets of used clubs and went to the driving range to try the clubs out. My forearm started getting sore, and was real sore by the time I finished the basket of balls.
I waited a week and tried again with the same results.
After 5 days of rest I went golfing at Hilltop and by the time I was half way done my forearm was hurting. It was also swollen and this morning is bruised.
My brother (very experienced golfer) said I am gripping too tight and swinging too hard. I explained that I have been relaxing my grip and not trying to kill the ball.
Has anyone else had this problem? I will have to let things heal up for a while before I practice again.:sad:

Had "golfers elbow" which lasted about a month. A friend recommeded using "Active On" which is a topical analgesic. Used it when I played with no pain and the problem eventually went away. No problem with it now.

There are many exercises to strengthen your forearms to help prevent injury. If you don't want to go to a gym, there are simple ones you could do at home that would only take a few minutes. After 30 a man's muscle mass naturally decreases but studies have shown muscular improvement in men 80 years old and older when they begin to strength train.

I used to have the same problem, left fore arm. Started doing wrist curls off a flat surface, counter top, ironing board, etc. Did the trick... never had the problem since. I do 15-20 each wrist both down and up directions using (now 15 lb weights.)

Are you left or right handed?
I am right handed and it was my right forearm.

I was working full time down here 'till about 2 months ago. Maybe that inactivity has had a lot to do with it. Time to start working on the arm as I have a lot of golf in store!

P.S. I am also a Hoosier/NW Indiana (a good place to be FROM):yuck:

I'm right handed, however, the left fore arm was the one causing me the most trouble -- so I just do the wrist curls on both.

Headed to Lisbon, Portugal in a couple of hours so I'll have to switch to KG's!

Golfers elbow or tennis elbow is the same thing,they make a strap that goes below the elbow that works wonderfully.

Maybe you can sign up for one of those $10-20 lessons and let a golf pro tell you want you are doing wrong.
