Holly model built in 2010...

Noticed edge of carpet is quite wet under front bedroom window, after heavy rain pounding window yesterday. No sign of water on window ledge or interior wall below window. Wet area does not extend beyond length of window....runs along molding/carpet juncture to about 3 inches out from wall.

Anyone have similar experience? I am thinking window/window frame leak problem as opposed to foundation issue??? Not sure of what type of contractor/service provider to call.

Thanks

I would look for cracks in the caulking around the outside of the window frame. Also, try hosing down the outside of the window to replicate the leak. If you find a crack, that would be an easy do it yourself fix. If not, call a window installer.

Suggest you call Restoration in the villages. Phone No. is 661-803-2314 and ask for Nicole. They will come out for free and look at the problem and tell you where in the wall there is water and where it starts and stops. We used them and they were really good. They are "Water Damage Experts".

Call warranty dept first. If it's structural it's under warranty. Always call warranty first.

Our BUILDER and thus the warranty dept have been very reasonable. Frankly, I was prepared for and expecting a war. They simply took care of it at N/C to me.

As suggested by a previous reply, it is a phone call. If, you do not get a positive response, stop over to their office-PREFERABLEY WHEN THEY ARE PACKED. Even if they can't or won't help you, you are not the first, no matter what the problem is and they can tell you how to solve it and or who to call.

LOOK-to see if there are drain holes at the bottom of the window. They often get plugged with dirt over time and can easily be cleaned out with a toothpick or piece of wire.

Is your house stucco? I had a friend who lives in a villa and the exact same thing happened to her house. They finally figured out that the painter watered down the paint for the outside of the house so the rain was seeping through the walls. Repainted the house and no more wet carpet.
