Any Boris Karloff frankenstein or mummy movies or any Bela Legosi vampire movie.....those were truly scary.

Back then the producers were able to present a thriller/chiller without the gory unending (unrealistic) special effects of the technology driven trash of today.

Another vote for the original "Halloween" from 1978. I was a senior in high school. My friend and I took her 12 year old brother and his friend. Pretty scary!
