Tonight is the first meeting with the County Commissioners regarding the transition of our shelter from a HIGH KILL shelter to a NO KILL shelter. We need YOU the community to join us. To tell the board how you feel about our shelter and to support those of us working to save your pets from being killed or adopted out before you can find them.
Others have been advocating for a No Kill shelter since 2014, I feel this has gone on long enough.
Please come... Colony Cottage Rec Center 510 Colony Blvd; The Villages at 5:00PM
The County Commissioners need to know what the residents think about the Killing of our family members to "cull the population" of dogs and cats in Sumter County.
You know how hard we work for you. Please help us save our pets from a High Kill Shelter.
Thank you for your support.

A copy of a letter sent to the County Commisioner
"Dear Sirs, we are extremely disturbed by the photos and information we are learning regarding the inhumane treatment of animals making into your Animal Services facility. We are also aware that this has been an ongoing problem at this facility for a number of years. The specifics of unacceptable practices by your shelter is now out in the open and you cannot hide from the problem any longer. There have been over 1,000 responses and comments about the poor dog left to die in agony on a concrete floor in your facility. That dog laid there for 3 days without intervention....that Sirs is animal cruelty! It is time for Shelter Reform, Animal Services no longer stands for unethical treatment or quick euthanasia of our furry friends. There are countless animal advocates out there willing to offer you Free assistance in helping your Animal Services find your 'dangerous' animals homes! In fact they have tried for years, but have been denied access to your tax payer funded Animal Services facility! This attitude will not be tolerated any longer, what secrets are you hiding? There are no more secrets. Either lead Shelter Reform, or get the heck out of the way, because this problem in your County is Not going away and neither are we Animal Advocates. It may take a change in commissioners and Management, whatever it takes, change is inevitable. And for your information, since Sumters Animal Services has gone viral, Animal Advocates are now aware of the inhumane treatment animals are receiving at your facility in Florida literally from coast to coast, and most likely globally! You all should be ashamed of yourselves!
Most sincerely, Carol A Seme

I wish I could have been there (currently still residing in MI). I read in the on line news about the meeting today but would like to here your feelings of how the meeting went Angie.
