Hello to all!
My husband Tom and I will be coming down for a "visit" in October. Our plan is to put our house up for sale in the spring and if we are fortunate enough to sell it, come down to the Villages in a rental until we find a home there. My question is, is it possible to rent month to month without signing a lease? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated,

There are lots of different rentals possibilities. Look to the left on the TOTV home page. You will see a For Sale and Rent by Owner ad. There is great info there....

What part of RI? We are living in North Kingstown, RI presently. We come to the villages as often as we can. I plan on putting our house on the market next year with the hope of being full time in the villages by summer of 2011.

As long as you plan to rent outside the peak snowbird season (i.e. April or May thru December), you can probably negotiate a month to month deal with the owner. Rates will vary from month to month but most owners are happy to have renters for months other than Jan thru April.

Susan, Hi. We live in Cranston RI. We have our house up for sale now. Hope it sells and we can come down before feb. Maybe we will see you there. I wonder if there is a RI club. Good Luck.

Yes there is a RI club I am told.
My neighbor across the street is from Warwick and down the street is a neighbor from Cranston. A little corner of Rhody right on the street.
I have two more winters before full time. Can't wait to get out of RI and down there.

I know what you mean. It feels like every day is like a week waiting to sell. Realtor is confident that he will sell it. At least he keeps bringing people. In the meantime we are packing away and gettin rid of as much as we can. Can't wait to get down there and enjoying my retirement.

If you are moving and then looking, don't rule out renting a Premier. We did, it had a lot of room for the furniture we brought in it's big garage while we built.. We rented in the summer and it was more economical.

But...it was rented for October on...keep that in mind when you are renting a summer "bargain" and are not sure of your completion plans.
